Location/Division Specific Information
As part of the Drug Product Division (DPD), the Greenville, North Carolina site is a multi-purpose pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and packaging campus. The operation specializes in taking both sterile injectable and oral solid dose drug products from development phase through to commercialization.
How You Will Make an Impact
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Director for our sterile injectable manufacturing site will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with all company requirements as well as local, state, and federal regulations. The EHS Director will lead initiatives to promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace, reduce risks, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Key Responsibilities:
EHS Program Development and Implementation:Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations.Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other relevant regulations.Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and documentation.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.Risk Management:Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize EHS risks.Implement and oversee emergency response plans and procedures.Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship:Lead initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.Promote sustainable practices and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.Health and Safety:Develop and implement health and safety programs to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.Team Leadership and Development:Lead and mentor the EHS team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations.Communicate EHS performance and initiatives to senior management and team members.Education
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification is strongly preferred.Experience
10+ years of experience in Environment, Health and Safety experience in an industrial or related environment required. Preferably in a pharmaceutical or sterile injectable manufacturing environment.8+ years in a leadership role, committed to employee engagement and development required.Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, FDA regulations, and other relevant EHS standards.Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and policies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Ability to work with cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle pressure, and manage multiple tasks effectively.Excellent presentation skills.Physical Requirements:
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time Manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10–35-pound pounds. Arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time. Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, nitrile or similar gloves, safety apron, organic respirator occasionally.
