Job Description
Plans, organizes and directs the staff and activities in support of the Employee Relations process including oversight of investigations and the research of employee complaints for the Advice and Counsel Center. Advises and recommends solutions and options to Site Leadership in support of resolving high level/ high impact employee relations issues. Establishes standardized resolution solutions to be applied across the health system.
Job Responsibility
Plans, organizes and directs the staff and activities in support of the Employee relations process. Ensures consistency with investigation practices and resolution of complaints across the health system. Regularly collaborates work with senior to executive leadership, Human Resources, and department managers in advising and recommending employee relations solutions. Identifies opportunities to initiate operational change across multiple departments Oversees the assignment of investigations and consistent application of the process. Collaborates with Site Leadership and Human Resources to ensure cases are thoroughly documented and areas of investigation are within the scope of the ACC. Conducts Tier 4 and more complex or sensitive investigations, including conducting interviews with all parties and documents conversations in a clear and concise manner. Gathers and reviews all necessary evidence in support of case investigation. Ensures all documentation is accurate and complete. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of a final investigative report including analysis and recommended course of action. Prepares and maintains regular reports utilizing ACC data regarding investigations for executive review. Partners with ACC team to establish standardized and most appropriate way to operationalize solutions for use by People Leader Partners and Site HR Officers. Prepares budget and recommends for approval. Responsible for day-to-day management of budget for department. Assists with making recommendations to senior and executive leadership regarding strategic direction for key programs and/or services. Applies knowledge of Labor laws, union contracts, federal, state and local laws in the application of complaint resolution. Collaborates with Legal and Compliance teams to resolve all complaints, including Ethics Point complaints, as necessary. Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports. Ensure performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion. Prepares and manages department budget. Develops and conducts training session for staff and ensures standards and service levels are met and maintained. Prepares analysis of ACC trends, reports out on results and makes recommendations for changes and improvements.Job Qualification
Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required. Master's Degree, or JD, preferred. Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution; solid writing, interpersonal and problem solving skills, required. Working knowledge of HR Systems including Oracle HCM and Kronos, preferred. Ability to interpret contracts, Federal, State and Local laws (DOL, OSHA, EEO, etc.) and apply to employee issues.
