L3Harris is currently seeking an Engineering Director to lead the Communication Systems Brevard Engineering Organization. The Engineering Director will manage a staff of Advanced Concept Engineers (ACEs) and Senior Engineering Managers to lead a 200+ multi-disciplinary functional engineering organization in support of the Brevard portfolio. The Brevard portfolio supports Army and Navy programs in support of the Broadband Communications Systems (BCS) sector. This role will coordinate all engineering needs for the site and direct engineering execution for the programs, proposals and pursuits in this portfolio. The Engineering Director will report to the Director of Engineering for the Advanced Mission Networks (AMN) Division within the BCS sector.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Create vision, strategy, and execute against the plan to help build a best in class Engineering teamCoordinate all engineering support required by the business area to include programs, proposals and pursuitsProvide mentorship and growth opportunities for engineering and management staff within the organizationDirect engineering program technical, schedule and cost performance for projects within the business area to include proposal reviews and approval and engineering program reviews and review/oversight of key technical decisionsProvide thought leadership to define the next generation systemsHire, attract and retain top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, execution, transparency and collaborationEnsure allocation of resources is aligned with business priorities and identify solutions for the optimal utilization of resourcesSupport execution and performance to the Sector Annual Operating PlanServe as a hands-on engineering leader, who easily gains the respect of senior and junior engineersResponsible for all proposals in Directorate, including cost and technical volumesContribute to new business pursuits by growing cross-functional relationships in new business development and across business areasTechnical training of the systems and functional organization and advancement of the state-of-the-art technology through appropriate industry interaction and continued education of technical staffPartner and work very closely with the Engineering Leadership staff, Business Development and Program Management to ensure strategy alignment, execution of projects and cross-team collaboration to jointly achieve the sector objectivesApprove technical solutions for programs and proposals within the business areaReview and approve cost estimates and schedules for programs and proposals within the business areaBasic Qualifications:
