What is the opportunity?
The Director, Enterprise Liquidity Analysis is the lead role in developing, investigating, researching, socializing, and communicating to drive decision-making on issues related to liquidity management at RBC, primarily focused, but not limited to, structural liquidity issues. The role will develop policies, engage financial results and data enablement's, including forecasting and measurement teams, and identify relevant issues and topics; collaborate with key partners across RBC to develop senior-level presentations and documents to inform and enable sound decision-making on liquidity & wholesale funds transfer pricing matters. Lead data-driven analysis on relevant topics. Audience will be senior management within Corporate Treasury and the CFO Group, Investor Relations, management committees (ALCO), senior management within lines of business, Board of Directors, regulators and others. Reports to the Managing Director and Head of Enterprise Liquidity.
What you will do?
Key role in supporting the bank’s structural liquidity management framework.Model Business Owner delegate for the bank’s structural funding policy, initiating and supporting key policy changes to effect changes in asset liability management through metric parameterization. This includes defending critical policy changes across a broad range of stakeholders in Corporate Treasury, Finance, senior committees and lines of business.Independently develop presentations and documents that inform and guide decision-making on relevant matters related to liquidity and wholesale Funds Transfer Pricing through collaboration with colleagues in Corporate Treasury, Regional Tactical Liquidity Managers, GRM, Finance and lines of business. Investigate, understand, and convey key storylines related to RBC’s liquidity position and forecasts to senior management, the Board, management committees, regulators and other stakeholders. This will typically involve longer-term trend analysis in the composition of RBC’s balance sheet and liquidity metrics and the evolution of liquidity-related regulations.Lead regular processes that capture the “bigger picture” trends and projections in liquidity risks, and provide first-line input & review into second line processes related to risk oversight and governance.Undertake or direct analyses of Canadian financial system data and peer liquidity disclosures, as required, to illustrate macroeconomic dynamics that will influence RBC’s liquidity position.Act as a driving force in structural balance sheet stress testing exercises with Treasury and Risk colleagues.Develop linkages with Corporate Treasury’s newly-established Balance Sheet Modelling team to drive data-driven analysis of balance sheet and revenue implications of potential changes in RBC’s asset & liability mix.Assess balance sheet, liquidity metric and other financial ratio forecasts produced by Corporate Treasury for potential implications on funding costs, liquidity positioning, and regulatory ratio constraints; along with Corporate Treasury colleagues, develop recommendations as needed to ensure RBC maintains a strong liquidity profile.Identify and recommend potential technology improvements, as required, to facilitate analysis across liquidity metrics and legal entities. Deliver other complex analysis required by Vice President - Balance Sheet Management.Carry out the mandate with a high degree of independence, thought leadership and a solutions-driven mindset.What you need to succeed?
Must Have
Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, Business or related fields10+ years' experience in banking; must have deep experience in liquidity concepts & management; significant exposure to senior leaders within an organizationSolid understanding of financial principles, risk concepts notably capital and liquidity requirements and expectations from regulators and investorsStrong grasp of Liquidity Management and FTP practicesGood understanding of business and accounting regulationsStrong leadership qualitiesExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong collaborative and complex-organization navigation skillsWell organized, able to work on multiple tasks and deadline-orientedJob Skills
