Director, External Reporting & Technical Accounting

About the role

The Director, External Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for all external reporting, including SEC reporting and filings, as well as statutory reporting for Dialpad’s international entities. Additionally, this role will serve as a key technical accounting resource within the company and will collaborate with cross-functional teams, executives and external auditors.

This is a hybrid position located in the San Ramon, CA office and reports to SVP, Controller.

What you’ll do 

Implement and manage the SEC financial reporting process and tools involving the preparation and review of the Company's SEC filings (S-1, 10-K, 10-Q etc.) and review of the XBRL process, and other financial reporting as required. Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel and other business partners to support 8-K, proxy statement and other SEC filings. Maintain an internal reporting calendar and communicate deadlines effectively to stakeholders. Responsible for conducting accounting research and preparing technical accounting memorandums for significant and/or complex transactions. Monitor developments and assess and communicate the effects of emerging US GAAP and SEC proposed regulations, and oversee the implementation of new accounting standards. Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly financial statements, including the statement of cash flows. Participate in month-end close activities including complex accounting calculations and entries related to stock-based compensation and earnings per share. Perform SOX controls and procedures over financial reporting and accounting processes. Partner with internal and external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits. Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial presentations for Audit Committee. Oversee the international accounting function and manage the relationship with 3rd party accounting firms. Responsible for statutory reporting and compliance for Dialpad’s international subsidiaries. Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

Skills you’ll bring 

15+ years of combined experience in public accounting and industry, minimum 5 years managing SEC reporting and technical accounting function. Experience with S-1 is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; an active CPA designation (or equivalent) is required. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations. Strong conceptual and practical experience in understanding and communicating technical accounting and SEC reporting issues. Demonstrated expertise in researching and documenting accounting guidance and treatment of accounting issues. Leadership experience in project organization, planning, and execution across internal and external reporting lines. Strong relationship management and communication skills at all organizational levels. Exceptional analytical skills.
