Director, Fiduciary Advisory Services

The **Director of Fiduciary Advisory Services** is responsible for driving new business growth by developing and deepening relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals, families, and their advisors. This role focuses on sourcing trust administration, estate administration, and investment management opportunities, leveraging strong technical expertise in fiduciary services and estate planning.
While the role includes limited direct administration of fiduciary accounts, the majority of time is spent on business development, relationship management, and acting as a subject matter expert in trust and estate solutions.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of fiduciary services, strong business development skills, and an established network of centers of influence (COIs), including estate planning attorneys, CPAs, family offices, and financial advisors.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Business Development & Relationship Management**
• Develop and execute a strategic plan to source new trust, estate, and investment management opportunities from HNW/UHNW individuals, families, and COIs.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with estate planning attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, family offices, and other professional intermediaries to generate referrals.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to prospects and clients, providing fiduciary expertise on wealth transfer strategies, estate planning, and trust administration solutions.
• Engage in networking events, conferences, and industry forums to enhance visibility and build new relationships in the HNW/UHNW market.
• Partner with internal wealth management, investment, and banking teams to develop comprehensive financial solutions for clients.
• Conduct client meetings and presentations, articulating the bank’s fiduciary capabilities, investment solutions, and wealth planning expertise.
**Fiduciary Expertise**
• Act as a technical expert on trust and estate matters, advising clients and internal partners on fiduciary best practices, complex trust structures, and estate settlement strategies.
• Review and analyze estate planning documents, trust agreements, and wills to identify business opportunities and potential risks.
• Collaborate with trust administrators, attorneys, and tax professionals to deliver customized fiduciary solutions aligned with client goals.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trust laws, estate tax regulations, and fiduciary industry trends to provide informed guidance to clients and COIs.
**Targeted Trust Administration Responsibilities**
• Serve as a relationship manager for select fiduciary accounts, ensuring high-touch client service and ongoing engagement.
• Oversee account reviews and ensure trust administration is conducted in accordance with fiduciary best practices and OCC regulations.
• Work with internal compliance, legal, and risk teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
**Qualifications & Experience**
• 10+ years of experience in trust and estate services, fiduciary advisory, or wealth management.
• Proven business development success, with a strong network of HNW/UHNW clients and professional referral sources.
• Deep knowledge of trust administration, estate planning, investment management, and fiduciary risk.
• Strong understanding of OCC regulations, fiduciary laws, estate tax considerations, and wealth transfer strategies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence sophisticated clients and COIs.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal banking, investment, and trust administration teams.
• Bachelor’s degree required; JD, CTFA, CFP, or CPA preferred.

• Experience working with family offices, private foundations, and multi-generational wealth.
• Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate complex fiduciary concepts in an accessible manner.

**Salary:**
$153,600.00 - $285,600.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
