Position Summary
Reporting to the VP, Finance in Toronto, the Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Financial Controller function based in Mumbai for TSX and NYSE-listed companies, Brookfield Business Partners and Brookfield Business Corporation (“the companies”), within the Brookfield Private Equity Group. This role encompasses ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial operations, including the maintenance of legal entity records. The Director will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver high quality outputs and support the growing needs of the underlying business, including senior management based in Toronto, Canada.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for directing and overseeing the full-cycle finance operations of the companies. This is a highly visible leadership role that interacts with many other departments, including private funds, treasury, tax, and finance teams in other parts of the world.
The responsibilities for this position would include, among other things:
Provide oversight of the Controller team based in Mumbai, including training, mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations.Support the publicly traded companies’ (Brookfield Business Partners, Brookfield Business Corporation, and Brookfield Corporation) consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including maintaining oversight over the consolidation process of the Corporate entities.Oversee the monthly and quarterly closing of legal entity books, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established deadlines. Includes:Complex transaction accounting and reviewUnderstanding of complex legal entity structuresPerforming in depth analysis and review of legal entity financial statements, including variance analysis and commentary for senior management Ensuring integrity of accounting and reporting for all legal entity records the team is responsible for, including adherence to SOX requirementsLiaise with various stakeholders and PE finance teams to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information while effectively managing communicationDevelop a clear understanding of the team’s processes, stay well-informed on their execution, and support process improvement initiatives.Lead the preparation and audits of consolidated financial statements and of multiple individual legal entity financial statements, where required.Ensure the compliance to external financial reporting and filing obligations to regulators, partners and other stakeholders for individual legal entities.Maintain and continuously improve internal controls over financial reporting.Coordinate intercompany reconciliations among all business groups and regions.Liaise with Brookfield leadership in Toronto on the identification and assessment of business and emerging risks.Manage special ad hoc projects, ensuring effective coordination of responsibilities and clear segregation of duties to achieve timely completion, as required.Qualifications & Requirements
Must Have:
Professional accounting designation (CA preferred)Experience with IFRS / US GAAP consolidated financial statements preparation and audit;strong technical accounting skills
