Purpose:
Our UPMC Corporate Finance team is excited to recruit a Director, Finance – Physician Services. This position is based out of Harrisburg, PA in the UPMC Central PA region and offers some remote work flexibility.
In this role, the Director will be tasked with managing the financial and statistical analysis / reporting across the physician departments and presentation of this information to senior management of the Health Services Division and UPMC Central PA. Additionally, they’ll collaborate across service lines to focus on opportunities in which UPMC may improve the financial performance through enhancements in the delivery of patient care. The Director will also need to focus on the continued advancement of delivery of finance through improved utilization of IT applications and development of staff under their leadership.
This position requires high-level analytical skills, problem solving skills, the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities:
Coordination of financial analysis and reporting across multiple departments and teams to ensure consistency in the information delivered Oversee all financial operations and required deliverables of operating departments including but not limited to monthly, quarterly, annual financial reporting, clinical FTEs, forecasts and budgets. Perform all responsibilities according to the philosophy and mission of the UPMC and a UPMC Finance Leader by conveying courtesy, respect, enthusiasm and a positive attitude in work situations involving patients, visitors, clinical staff, co-workers, other UPMC staff and external contacts. Interpret, analyze and report financial data to all levels of the organization. Work independently, be flexible, perform in stressful situations, and produce under pressure. Ability to remain highly motivated and results oriented to accomplish the goals and objectives established by executive management. Identify fluctuations/trends in the key financial and/or operational indicators which may indicate a change in the operations or business pattern of our operational departments. Focus on margin improvement opportunities of our departments and/or UPMC thru either cost containment, cost avoidance, revenue enhancements and/or volume opportunities. Effectively manage staff performing various financial reporting and analysis functions. Meet department’s objectives by establishing staffing patterns and organizing the work of the department. Collaborate with peers across the Health Services Division/UPMC to support analytic/project assigned to ensure the implications across our Integrated Finance and Delivery System are considered. Monitor and understand changes in the market at a local, regional and national level that may impact the operations and or financial results of our business. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to utilize our IT applications which will facilitate the completion and/or delivery of analytics and reporting. Examples of these applications would include but are not limited to EPIC, Cost Management, Cognos. Integrate reporting and analysis at a department level to support the continued integration and development of Service Lines.
