Director, Financial Planning & Analysis (Construction & Materials)

General Summary

This position is responsible for leading the financial planning and analysis function to support operations and corporate strategic planning and decision making.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Direct the financial planning processes, including forecasting, budgeting, and operational planning, to facilitate effective strategic planning and decision-making and to ensure the Company is achieving its financial and strategic goals

Oversee the development of financial analysis and analytical reports for Company Senior Management, Operational Management and the Board of Directors, to enhance decision making and to provide management insight on developing financial trends

Direct the development and administration of Granite’s planning system (Hyperion Planning).  Drive enhancements that maximize its usefulness as a management tool, provide KPI reporting and forecast modeling that is user-friendly and based on relevant value drivers

Collaborate with operating group, regional, and corporate management to facilitate alignment with the strategic plan and operating plans

Support planning stakeholders by providing guidance and information to assist in meeting budgets, providing quality forecasts and understanding actual results

Lead, and manage the FP&A group including, but not limited to, budgets, forecasts, staffing, compensation, performance management, career development and customer service to ensure corporate initiatives are met


Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another related field of study is required

MBA, CFA and/or CPA preferred

Work Experience

10+ years of experience in a corporate finance, consulting or FP&A environment, with a demonstrated ability to lead a financial analysis and FP&A function

5+ years management/supervisory experience  

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Strong financial analysis skills, with an ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear and concise manner 

General understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), consolidations and SEC reporting.

Advanced computer skills required (Excel, Word, Access, Adobe Professional, Hyperion Planning, JD Edwards).

Strong understanding of database applications and business intelligence applications

Ability to work with and manage a high level of detailed information

Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projects

Team player, with strong leadership skills, who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment

Sound decision making ability with the experience to balance consensus against authority as appropriate

Excellent consultative and communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels within the organization

Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges

Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines

Advanced written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States.

Base Salary Range: 

$183,065.00 - $274,598.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
