NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study is seeking an innovative and collaborative Director, First-Year Experience to lead and shape programs that enhance the academic journey of our first-year students. This pivotal role is designed for a dynamic leader dedicated to student success, community building, and academic excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Lead Academic Advising and Retention Initiatives: Guide first-year students through their academic experience at Gallatin, supporting their transition and retention.Supervise and Mentor a Team: Direct a dedicated team of First-Year Class Advisers to provide exceptional guidance to our students.Develop and Implement Student Success Programs: Create and execute programs that foster academic success, enhance community engagement, and offer direct support for a cohort of approximately 300 first-year students.Collaborate with Faculty: Partner with faculty to develop advising strategies that promote student engagement and ensure retention.Teach and Advise: Teach one course annually as associate faculty and provide individualized advising to students.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Doctoral Degree All but Dissertation (ABD)

Preferred Education:
Doctoral Degree Ph.D

Required Experience:
7+ years of relevant increasingly responsible professional level experience including experience with academic advising, developing policies and procedures, teaching, and staff supervision or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership and planning skills. Experience with MS Office and Google Suite applications. Experience with data analysis.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with interdisciplinary programs. Advanced working knowledge of Excel and database management.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $95,000.00 to USD $115,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
