Job Description:
The Space Propulsion and Power Systems (SP&PS) sector of the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment is seeking a highly motivated HR Director to lead our west coast operations supporting 1900 employees across sites in Redmond, WA, Canoga Park, CA, and Sacramento, CA. The HR Director will partner with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that foster organizational and people development. This position will oversee a mix of union and nonunion manufacturing environments.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a strategic partner to site and division leadership, providing HR guidance and support in areas such as talent management, organizational design, employee and labor relations, compensation, talent acquisition, and workforce planning.Develop and lead HR team to drive initiatives that align with the sector’s strategic goals and support the unique needs of the sites.Provide proactive leadership, guidance and support across the HR function and for HR direct reports, including HR Business Partners directly supporting SP&PS programs and site-based HR team members supporting business unit operating locations. Direct responsibility for business-focused HR initiatives and leadership of the HR site-based team members.Act as a change agent, supporting the implementation of organizational changes and cultural shifts within the company.Provide expert advice and coaching to management on HR-related matters, including but not limited to performance management, employee development, and conflict resolution.Manage local labor relations activities and escalations as necessary, in partnership with segment and corporate labor relations. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.Analyze HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and report on HR performance to senior leadership.Foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged for the company’s success.Will require 25-50% travel to other operating locations.Qualifications:
Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 15 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to assimilate information quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.Possesses a strong bias for action and a keen sense of urgency with limited guidance and superior results.Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and navigate a matrixed organization.Extensive HR experience, with a significant portion in a leadership role, preferably within a technology or defense sector.Proven experience in managing HR functions in a unionized environment, including familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations.Strong understanding of employment law and regulations, particularly as they apply to California and Washington states.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.Ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels within and across the organization by utilizing strong relationship management and negotiation skills.Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Preferred candidate has a Master’s degree or MBA.Experience in a technical work environment using a matrix management structure is desirable.Experience with organizational development and change strategies to influence and assist organizational change initiatives in a complex growth environment.Knowledge of PeopleSoft and SuccessFactors systems a plus.In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $138,500 - $257,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
