Director, HR Business Partner - Eastern US

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, HR Business Partner to lead a team of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and provide strategic HR guidance across the Operations Organization. This pivotal role combines leadership and hands-on partnership with key business units, acting as both a player and coach. As a player-coach, you will not only manage and mentor a team of HRBPs but also directly engage with senior leadership to align people strategies with business objectives. This position demands an accomplished leader with a strong business acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for fostering organizational growth and a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR Business Partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Ensure alignment of the HRBP team’s strategies and initiatives with organizational objectives and HR goals. Act as a resource for HRBPs in addressing complex issues, providing guidance on best practices, and ensuring consistency across business units.

Strategic HR Partnership

Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, delivering strategic HR insights and solutions that drive business results. Partner with business leaders to identify and address people-related opportunities and challenges, including organizational design, workforce planning, and culture initiatives. Leverage HR COEs (Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, etc.) to develop and implement tailored programs that meet organizational needs.

Talent Management & Organizational Development

Drive talent management strategies, including succession planning, leadership development, and colleague engagement, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives. Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to design and deliver training programs that enhance leadership capabilities and colleague skillsets.

Colleague Relations & Compliance

Provide guidance and oversight for colleague relations issues, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance across the organization. Lead initiatives to enhance workplace culture and colleague engagement at all levels. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, serving as a subject matter expert for HRBP team members and business leaders.

Change Management & Organizational Leadership

Lead and support change management initiatives, equipping leaders and teams with the tools needed to navigate organizational transitions effectively. Act as a champion for inclusion, diversity, and belonging, partnering with HR and business leaders to implement impactful programs.

Data-Driven Insights

Utilize HR analytics to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives, providing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement. Present data-driven insights to leadership to influence decision-making and inform strategy.

Player-Coach Responsibilities

Maintain direct partnership with a business unit or leadership team, applying the same HRBP strategies and practices expected from the team. Lead by example in addressing complex HR issues, demonstrating hands-on expertise in colleague relations, strategic planning, and change leadership.

Qualifications:

Experience:

10+ years of progressive HR experience, including a leadership role managing HR professionals and serving as a senior-level HR Business Partner. Proven experience leading and developing high-performing HR teams.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.

Skills:

Strong business acumen with the ability to align HR strategies with diverse organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and drive outcomes in a complex, fast-paced environment. Expertise in employment law, compliance, and best practices in HR policies and programs. Exceptional coaching, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in HRIS and data analytics tools.

Preferred:

Experience in a global or matrixed organization. Background in leading large-scale HR initiatives or projects across diverse teams.
