About Cadia
 

Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

The Cadia Integrated Tailings Project (CTIP) is a significant portfolio program of civil works; to safely deliver a major upgrade of the Tailings Dam at our Tier-1 gold mining operation at Cadia.

 

Newmont is seeking highly experienced HSEC Director, to lead and enhance the design and delivery of the health and safety programs for the Cadia Tailings Project (APAC) through the implementation of enterprise health and safety standards and aligned programs to ensure inclusion of projects specific considerations.

 

This long-term 2 year contract position will be offered either as a full time 5/2 roster (Mon-Fri) to Orange NSW regional residents, or as a 12/6 roster for FIFO workers.

 

Who we're looking for

 

This role will aim to improve project performance via early project and stakeholder engagement, process refinement, training and governance/assurance reviews. You will define and oversee HSEC deliverables, through your visible frontline leadership to Owner’s project team and external contractors, in collaborative partnership with site operations stakeholders.

 

Lead the CITP Project Health, Safety, Environment and Community team to achieve planned H&S deliverables for the ProjectSupport the Regional Head of Projects in delivering world class health and safety outcomes on the APAC mega- portfolioApply professional oversight, training, strategic safety guidance for CITP Project initiatives through all project life cycle phasesOptimize the global health and safety strategies, policy and practices, focusing on exposure to fatality and injury risks for the CITP ProjectDeliver input into the design and integration of existing and future enterprise-wide health and safety tools e.g. Fatality Risk Management (FRM) and Critical Learning and risk assessment, providing project specific insightsDrive the integration and adoption of Health and Safety systems for the ProjectEstablish Health and Safety governance and assurance frameworks to monitor and identify H&S risks and mitigations for onsite project activity e.g. fatality risk complianceDefine pathways to ensure execution of strategic Health and Safety initiatives throughout the Project including Project Leadership Teams and EPC/M contractorsIdentify and execute Health and Safety improvement opportunities throughout the Project span of influence and controlContribute to the development of the enterprise HSEC team planning objectives, budget and leadership on delivery to the planProvide expert technical advice and guidance to key stakeholders on the application of Newmont's risk management processes and protocols through all project stages

As a Senior HSEC Leader, key to your success in this role will be to demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment. You will hold expert proficiency in implementing occupational health & safety management systems in a major projects environment

 

Recognised Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Safety, Safety Management, Engineering, Environment or related technical fieldSignificant experience in Senior Health, Safety or Environmental role(s), gained in mining operations, or projects (similar relevant complex heavy industrial environments considered)Demonstrable HSEC Management experience in heavy civil construction essential (ideally high-value portfolio projects), with a strong understanding of the full project cycle, and applicable health & safety systems, standards and processesStrong understanding of Risk Management and ICAM investigation methodologies and processesDemonstrated ability to lead change and produce results within large, multi-discipline project teams; including 3rd party contractorsStrong consultative and influencing skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
