HD Biosciences, a WuXi AppTec company is searching for a Director- In Vivo Pharmacology to manage team and project operations. The candidate must provide leadership, scientific, and operational support for a diversified research staff. This role requires experience and an established track record in working with multi-functional teams outside their reporting structure and presenting research strategies and results. Along with scientific strength, the successful candidate must have a proven track record of instilling teamwork and operational excellence while successfully executing against objectives. This key position will report directly to the head of In Vivo Pharmacology Department.

Responsibilities

• Leads multifunctional teams in the In Vivo Pharmacology Department.
• Develops animal models for the evaluation of anti-disease therapies.
• Responsible for the evaluation of various test articles in rodent PD, explored TOX, and anti-disease efficacy studies.
• Schedules studies, reviews protocols, data and reports
• Establishes scientific standards and new initiatives.
• Writes and reviews SOPs.
• Provides scientific leadership by proactively advising, sharing knowledge and expert opinions across functions and with senior management.
• Responsible for the daily management of supervisory and non-supervisory staff to include hiring, training, mentoring, managing performance, ensuring department and company policy compliance, and time management.
• Anticipates scientific barriers, and proactively develops strategies to ensure successful drug evaluation.
• Applies his/her experience and expertise in preclinical development of new disease models to guide study design.
• Participates in drafting quotations.
• Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution and communication of research results with high-quality standards.
• Interfaces with pharma partners, academic collaborators, and partner CROs.
• Provides operational support for In Vivo Pharmacology Department.
• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.
• Performs job-specific tasks in compliance with applicable regulations, international standards, WuXi AppTec policies, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

• PhD with training in oncology, metabolic disease, immune/autoimmune or highly related field and at least 10 years of related academic or industry work experience.
• 5 years of experience in managing scientists and technicians and leading team research activities
• AALAC certification and/or prior experience with IACUC standards is highly desirable

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Listens and understands other points of view; ability to effectively articulate vision and persuade key stakeholders across the organization.
• Ability to be able to read, write, and understand English and Mandarin.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel for business as required.
• Maybe required to work Holidays and weekends.

 

Anticipated base pay range: $137,700 to $192,780
