ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose
The Director, Income Tax will be responsible for leading and managing Pattern’s Income Tax reporting and assisting with tax planning activities, including –
Overall income tax compliance execution, review and filing of all US federal and state income tax returns, including foreign information filingsForeign income tax filings, including Canada, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Mexico and any other jurisdiction in which the company is required to fileFBAR filingsEngaging Pattern business leaders and providing input on the tax implications of business strategies and transactionsMentoring and developing the income tax teamSupport tax reporting to company investor group and tax equity investorsKey Responsibilities
Provide Pattern business contacts income tax supportIncome tax implications during prospective project development, include income tax assumptions in financial modellingIncome tax implications and compliance during project constructionIncome tax implications and evolving issues for Pattern’s operating projectsMonitor and provide support for emerging income tax changes and trendsMentor and develop the income tax teamLead efforts to automate and streamline income tax compliance and reporting processes Final review and approval of income tax compliance filingsManage income tax risks - audits and notices from tax authoritiesFinal review and sign-off of the company's Tax Accounting for financial reporting purposesQuarterly and annual investor tax reporting to meet upstream owner tax reporting requirements Manage the overall relationship, fees, and engagement of 3rd party tax compliance service providers to ensure cost effective and timely delivery of tax reporting. Manage income tax compliance personnel to ensure distribution of workflow, welfare of staff and mitigate the cost of turnover. QualificationsExperience/Qualifications/Education Required
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Economics/Business or similar CPA is a plusAdvanced Degree in Taxation preferredAdditional Requirements
12+ years of relevant experience in the corporate and/or public accounting firm working in US Corporate, Subchapter K (Passthrough), International, State and local taxesAt least 4 years in a Big 4/National tax firm learning environment tracking appropriately with increasing client and personnel management responsibilities.Experience managing US, International and global income tax compliance ideally for privately owned partnershipsExperience managing and developing other individualsStrong interpersonal and communication skills Detail-oriented with strong quantitative and analytical skillsAbove average organizational skillsPrior industry/client experience in renewables sector a plusPreferred San Francisco hybrid work locationTechnical Skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook)Experience with Oracle ERP is preferredExperience with tax compliance software – Corptax experience a plusExperience with tax research software
The expected starting pay range for this role is $137,000 - $185,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
