JOB SUMMARY
This position has responsibility for directing the infection prevention program for UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. Provides leadership and strategic direction in developing a culture of infection prevention in identifying opportunities and initiatives to reduce and prevent infections. Coordination among senior leaders, facility leaders, unit/practice managers, and operations and clinical support personnel will enhance system reliability and improve infection prevention processes and outcomes. These activities involve reporting, system and process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, and monitoring of activities related to infection prevention. This individual assumes responsibility, accountability, and authority for directing and facilitating an effective infection prevention program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree required - BSN, Medical Technologist, RT, or other Healthcare related field. Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology required.
Experience: 3 years of experience in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology required. 2 years of leadership experience required. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Certification by the National Certification Board of Infection Control required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Knowledge of departmental and UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper computer system(s); knowledge of high reliability principles, healthcare operations, and healthcare quality improvement methodology.
