Purpose The Director for International Student Programs and Support will lead university-wide programs to support and maintain compliance with federal regulations regarding nonimmigrant students and scholars. This position will provide oversight to staff, programs, services, and support initiatives. Responsibilities: Administration- 50% + Directly supervises and maintains responsibility of department. + Leads the development of short-term and long-term departmental goals and objectives. + Provides effective budget management and oversees fiscal operations by establishing cost controls. + Manages strategic planning, development, implementation, and assessment of integrated programs. + Provides information and reports to management. + Recommends new departmental and University-wide policies or revisions to existing policies + Oversees compliance with federal regulations and reporting related to nonimmigrant students, including, but not limited to Form I-17 updates, SEVP recertification, SEVIS Alerts, Annual Verification, and DSO updates. + Oversees records management to maintain TAMU System and federal compliance. Operations- 30% + Provides leadership and direction for departmental and university-wide functions to include planning, directing, and evaluating programs and operations such as workshops, presentations, orientation collaborations, mentoring programs, and student support initiatives. + Serves as a liaison and coordinates working relationships with academic and non-academic units of the University. + Serves as an advisor/consultant to the University community regarding matters relating to nonimmigrant students and scholars, as well as department operations. + Leads the development and oversight of communications, promotions, website, and public relations for departments. + Develops, directs, and evaluates process compliance and internal controls. Supervision and Support- 20% + Recruits, hires, supervises, and directs staff including ongoing skills assessment and training. + Develops reports, analyses, and surveys for supervisor. + Completes special projects as requested by supervisor + Serves on various University, division, and departmental committees and represents department in various situations. + Participates in training and professional development sessions. + Stays abreast of developments in the field. + Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree. + Ten (10) years of related experience supporting nonimmigrant students at an SEVP-approved school. + Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement: + Masters degree and eight (8) years of related experience supporting nonimmigrant students at an SEVP-approved school. + Doctoral degree and six (6) years of related experience supporting nonimmigrant students at an SEVP-approved school. + Must qualify to become a Designated School Official (Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident). + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Exceptional attention to detail + Ability to take initiative and identify opportunities for improvement + Ability to either work in a team environment or independently with minimal guidance + Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, resources, and time effectively. Preferred Qualifications: + Degree in Student Affairs or related field. + Five (5) years of experience supporting nonimmigrant students as a PDSO/DSO or RO/ARO + Experience with higher education software such as Banner, TerraDotta, and Maxient.
