Director, Inventory Accounting

The Director, Inventory Accounting is responsible for coordinating the preparation and analysis of inventory accounting operations in such areas necessary for the establishment, maintaining, and review of all inventory accounts and their related financial statement line items including necessary accounting reserves. Additionally, this role will play a pivotal role in inventory related projects and assisting in the representation of the Accounting team through various Company initiatives. Assist in the annual external audit and quarterly review processes, while also preparing requisite documentation for financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is situated at our Corporate Office in Boston Heights, OH, with a hybrid schedule.

 

Key fundamental skill sets for this role will be:

Review all period-end entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses as it relates to inventory related accounts with appropriate internal control documentation and support when required. Continuously evaluate internal controls in response to changing systems/processes and work with department leadership and Controller to identify and implement necessary control changes. Leading the day-to-day operations concerning inventory related accounting transactions. Help assure accuracy of inventory costing. Responsible for the coordination and review of required inventory reserves and distribution center reconciliations when necessary. Keep current with SEC developments and changes in our business and industry to ensure that their effects are properly reflected in the matters related to inventory accounting and other deliverables. Responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership to the finance organization on the treatment of inventory accounting issues, implementation of new accounting standards and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and PCAOB regulations. Develop and maintain key relationships with other Accounting, Finance, IT, Legal, Logistic and Inventory Management functions, and provide support and expert guidance for special projects and programs. Support ad hoc projects as required.

 

Requirements: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required. CPA designation is preferred Possess 7+ years of experience in public accounting or relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in executing and documenting SOX controls. Thorough knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC Rules and Regulations. Proficient in conducting research and forming opinions/interpretations on accounting standards. Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications. Exceptional presentation, reporting, and communication skills. Exhibit a high level of ethics, integrity, judgment, and confidentiality.
