Job Summary As a member of the Business Risk Management leadership team, develops and implements strategic and operational plans related to the implementation of BRM’s vision, mission and overall goals and objectives. Serves as liaison to senior executives in Corporate divisions including Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T), Information Security and Privacy, Legal, among others. Prepares and delivers presentations to Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, when called upon. Further responsibilities include overseeing BRM’s data analytics center of excellence and managing co-sourcing relationships. This position works closely with the business leaders and BRM staff in developing and executing the BRM audit plan. Manages and develops staff carrying out risk assessments and audit assignments. Job Responsibilities and Duties + Provides support and guidance to senior business leaders in identifying, analyzing and managing their business risks in relation to desired business objectives. + Leads efforts to assess risks, develop an audit plan and conduct audit and advisory projects over information technology and related risks. Manages assurance and advisory projects within desired budgets and timelines. + Maintains extensive subject matter expertise in the area of IT, business environment risks, and related governance practices. Monitors and keeps abreast of industry and technology developments and risks and determine the impact on Thrivent. Makes any necessary adjustments to audit plans regarding emerging risks. + Works with Head of BRM in support of departmental planning, budgeting, recruiting and results measurement (scorecard) as well as providing the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors with relevant and useful information. + Leads innovation efforts within the department, such as the use of artificial intelligence in internal audit, and including overseeing delivery of data analytics to the BRM department. + Coordinate efforts with external auditors to enhance the quality of information available to them and avoid redundancy of efforts. Reviews the results from relevant audits and exams performed by outside auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken. + Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization. Job Qualifications Required: + Bachelor’s degree in MIS, business administration, accounting, or finance. (Other degrees considered with sufficient, relevant work experience.) Advanced degree desirable. + Significant progressive experience (10+ years) leading teams in IT audit, security, risk, controls or information technology. + Deep understanding of IT and audit control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT, NIST, CMM, ITIL, and ISO 27002) + Demonstrated experience in auditing cloud computing environments, cybersecurity programs, AI governance and data privacy controls. + CISA, CISSP, CISM, CPA, CIA or CRISC designation required. Preferred: + Extensive experience working within IT environments is preferred. Familiarity with mainframe and midrange platforms, operating systems, database management systems, networks and firewalls, application development and IT processes, as well as information security is also preferred. + Experience in the financial services industry is preferred. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $166,184.00 - $224,839.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
