Job Description:

Job Summary: The Director of IT Portfolio Management will support Engineering and Technology Executive Leadership within the Engineering organization on matters related to portfolio and project management and enabling operational processes/systems. The Director will manage a team of portfolio managers responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Portfolio Management competency, including overall controls and governance, and lead the evolution of portfolio management processes to support value-driven delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate across the Engineering and Technology organizations to ensure successful execution of demand, capacity, and portfolio management.Partner with Engineering Executive leadership and key functional leaders to ensure data-enabled, timely portfolio and asset-level decision-making with key inputs from Finance, Program Management, and Engineering.Identify and champion best practices for portfolio processes, including qualitative and quantitative methods for decision-making, and the use of dashboards, templates, tools, systems, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, decision-making, and communication.Leverage program and organizational knowledge, leadership, and facilitation skills to enable Portfolio Management Teams to drive alignment, collaboration, and accountability within the teams and across corporate functions.Play an integral role in portfolio-level program planning, including cross-functional resource planning, financial, and capacity assessments; contribute to long-range and budgetary planning.Ensure effective communication of Program and Portfolio Management information to the broader organization.Drive increasing Portfolio Management Maturity by leading management and evolution of portfolio, program, and project governance frameworks and the development of appropriate reporting tools.Manage prioritization, controls, and risk throughout the portfolio.Work closely with the IT Financial Controller to structure and deliver IT financial processes and reporting for the project portfolio, including contribution to the annual budget process, variance, and forecasting.Establish and drive visibility of strategic initiatives with assigned Program and Project management.Participate in Project Management Practice regarding project lifecycle, finance, and reporting.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience preferred

5+ years leading/managing an IT or Enterprise focused Project Management office functions is preferred. 

10 years of experience in using Project Management methodologies to manage or oversee projects both within IT and across organizations (Agile/XP/PMI)

At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.

At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.

Expert proficiency in Portfolio Management skills: Evaluation, Governance, Resource planning, prioritization, and scheduling.

Experience in quantitative portfolio management; leading and managing largescale programs and knowledgeable of agile models.

Experience facilitating Strategic and tactical planning exercises both internal and external to IT.

Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority.

Business acumen coupled with technical knowledge

Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and business case development

Must be able to work independently and proactively

Excellent organizational, analytical, and independent problem-solving skills

Ability to communicate effectively and frequently both verbally and in writing

Ability to manage and resolve conflicts
