Job Summary:

 

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, and for assuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

The Laboratory Director must comply with all the responsibilities required under CLIA regulations.

The Laboratory Director must work close to the Commercial teams to ensure the lab becomes a profitable unit, ensuring a consistent and growing portfolio of assays

 

Essential Job Duties:

 

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (CLIA) and maintain all existing accreditations (i.e. CAP, AABB, State licences) and work on new additional ones Provide effective direction over the operation of the laboratory. Lead and collaborate with other Grifols Team on the definition of the Laboratory Strategy, identifying the best value proposition and portfolio to grow the laboratory Being a proactive contribution to the growth of the laboratory, identifying testing opportunities to improve and complete the lab portfolio Ensure the laboratory is well prepared with all the tools -processes, softwares including LIMS, billing platform- to support the testing business Lead the laboratory staff efficiently and ensure that every position in the laboratory is filled by an individual qualified to hold the position and able to perform the tasks required of the position Ensure that the physical plant and environmental conditions are appropriate for the testing performed and provide an environment safe from physical, chemical, and biological hazards. Ensure testing systems provide quality laboratory services for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing Ensure that reports of test results include pertinent information required for interpretation

 

Job Requirements:

 

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.),  Doctor of Science (Ph.D.) or equivalent; SBB or board certified in transfusion medicine At least ten years of experience with five years working on a private commercial reference high-complexity laboratory, in the field of immunohematology, hematology, transfusion or transplantation Strong expertise in testing related with Transfusion Medicine and Clinical Diagnostics. Curiosity to identify new opportunities. Planning and organizational skills. Team management and leadership. Effective written and verbal communication skills.  Must be able to communicate with all levels of staff and management. Acts as a topic expert to other departments or companies within the Grifols group. Support in the BGG and Immunohematology strategy
