This role is responsible for the conception, analysis and conduct of Marketing Research programs to provide management with accurate, timely and relevant business strategy conclusions and recommendations to support Sales/Marketing and R&D decisions. This information will be used to manage the company's portfolio of products, to evaluate licensing opportunities for related products, and manage the competitive product strategies. Analyses may at times include both North America and International assessments. Product lines may include a large portfolio of existing products and business segments which use multiple and varied external secondary databases. The Director's proactive assessment of marketing research needs is critical to the marketing success of key brands in the Grifols portfolio. The Director works with the Marketing Director(s) to set research priorities and for incorporating data and analytics into strategic and tactical planning with the goal of maximizing profits to the corporation. This position may have direct reports, which would require solid team leadership and coaching capabilities.
Primary responsibilities for role:
● Independently manages and directs projects, including those of both North America and International scope. Plans, implements, analyzes, interprets, and provides recommendations for areas of responsibility in order to provide management with accurate, timely, and relevant business strategy actions.
● Devises, implements, and interprets results of primary research studies to evaluate existing and new market areas and products in response to specific marketing/management problems or opportunities. In many instances, responsible for international primary research projects of specific strategic importance.
● Consults with directors, other senior managers, Marketing, as well as Patient & Consumer Marketing and Medical Affairs staff in the design and analysis of primary research projects. Responsibilities include: 1) selection of methodology, 2) selection of appropriate technique to determine sampling frame, 3) evaluation of results and 4) derivation of consequences for potential or planned marketing programs. Also, guides the analysis and interpretation of univariate and multivariate statistical techniques (e.g. factor analysis, perceptual mapping, logic analysis and conjoint analysis).
● Has a key role in worldwide strategic analysis of existing and pipeline products. Evaluates all aspects of new product opportunities or line extensions, including international sales potential, competitive threats, and corporate synergies. Works with Business Development, R&D, Marketing and other departments to provide a comprehensive analysis of the current market as well as long-range projection of trends. Makes recommendations to Grifols management regarding market potential.
● Responsible for developing complex forecasting models for long-range planning purposes and evaluation of promotional options. These will be pivotal in constantly reassessing and reevaluating Grifols's strategy and portfolio and thus making recommendations on priorities for Marketing options or evaluation licensing opportunities.
● Designs, implements, analyzes, and interprets a program of on-going marketing research using secondary data sources (i.e., IQVIA audits) to provide a continuous source of marketing intelligence.
● Identifies sources of epidemiological data including North America and International markets. Familiarizes self with expanded data searching capabilities for incorporation/access into market assessment resources.
● Continually identifies, evaluates and when appropriate acquires the latest advanced marketing research techniques to address marketing research problems.
● Evaluates, recommends, and serves as Marketing expert for market analytical and statistical packages.
KSA's:
Requires a high degree of skill and experience in all aspects of secondary research using different audits as well as thorough knowledge of questionnaire design (to elicit qualitative and quantitative feedback without introducing bias), and data analysis including technical approaches such as conjoint, perceptual mapping, logit analysis and factor analysis. The incumbent must have the ability to interface with high levels of internal management, the advertising agencies, Marketing, Business Development and Marketing Research suppliers/consultants. In addition, the position requires coordination of projects with diverse groups and an ability to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing. Incumbent must have a sound knowledge of company products, products in development, multiple markets, marketing activities and objectives. Incumbent must be able to work with a high degree of independence, plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time and budget constraints. Must be able to read and comprehend scientific and legal documents, publications and reports.
Additional Responsibilities
• Devises and implements marketing research plan for products and projects in area of therapeutic responsibility to optimize growth opportunities in that area.
• Identifies, verifies, and reports industry trends, and estimates their impact to the marketing therapeutic areas to validate or redirect marketing direction and/or strategy.
• Evaluates all aspects of highly confidential corporate licensing and product acquisitions, including strategic analysis, forecasting, and net present value.
• Interacts with Marketing, Business Development and R&D functions to evaluate worldwide market potential for projects (or licensing candidates) including cash flows, NPVs, etc. Supports pre-marketing programs to maximize opportunities.
• Assists Marketing and Sales in product positioning, through carefully continued, analyzed and reported market research studies. This involves utilizing studies that provide insight into product attributes important for marketing success.
• Identifies new markets of interest to Grifols for more accurate product forecasting, and for inclusion in plans.
• Negotiates with, selects and supervises Marketing Research suppliers and consultants for work on project areas to optimize cost/time/quality trade-offs. Evaluates contract suppliers' work to ensure specifications are met. Controls market research costs to assure accuracy to charges and maintenance within agreed upon project budget.
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of industry trends, and professional practices and techniques. Reviews and evaluates outside marketing research services to optimize department resources.
• Has a sound understanding of relevant related disciplines such as pharmaco-economics, epidemiology, marketing and the ability to interface with and facilitate efforts of personnel performing these functions.
• This position may have direct reports, which would require solid team leadership and coaching capabilities.
Experience Required:
• 8 years marketing research experience in US or international, at least 3 are in the pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with plasma proteins and the immunoglobulin market a plus, but not a requirement
• Bachelor's Degree or higher
This role is a hybrid role that has 3 days required at the office in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina per week.
