Job Description
This role represents an opportunity to define and execute a modern strategy to utilize High Throughput Experimentation (HTE), Parallel Medicinal Chemistry (PMC), and other automated approaches to increase efficiency, drive Lead Identification efforts, and contribute to the broader Medicinal Chemistry goal of discovering transformational medicines.
Responsibilities
Be responsible for proposing and implementing additional capabilities in HTE, parallel synthesis and automated processes supporting medicinal chemistry
Expand the breadth of reactions available within a PMC platform
Experience with a wide range High Throughput Screening techniques, including traditional, covalent, fragment, and DEL based formats.
Collaborate effectively with structural chemistry, biology, drug metabolism and nonclinical safety
Critically interpret data from in vitro and in vivo pharmacology assays and models
Strong data processing and analysis skills, with familiarity with coding language for data analysis being a plus
Proven track record of working across departments to establish strategies and change management for databases and analytics tools to enable high throughput experimentation
Develop effective strategies to address key project objectives through providing creative medicinal and synthetic chemistry problem solving
Participate as an engaged member of a highly interactive Medicinal Chemistry department, contributing scientific knowledge and leadership across projects
Contribute to new project ideation and advancement
Provide clear, concise and impactful communications to colleagues and senior leadership describing project objectives and results
Participate in evaluation of external assets, platforms and technologies
Lead a group of scientists and develop high performing teams with an inclusive and innovative culture
Required Qualifications
PhD in chemistry with at least 8 years in industry drug discovery experience OR
MS degree and 10+ years or BS degree and 12+ years also considered
Ability to effectively hire, coach, mentor, and develop employees to their maximum potential
Implementation and evolution of High Throughput Experimentation capabilities within a Small Molecule Drug Discovery organization
Demonstrated success in utilizing automated processes to increase efficiency and deliver impactful results for project teams.
Publication record, including patents, commensurate with years of experience
