About the role

Lead the delivery of targeted advice and operational support, establish alignment with strategic objectives, validate and prioritize initiatives using data, assure performance through root cause insights, create benchmarks. Establish metric definitions, support data governance model, and enhance talent management through standards, training and coaching to improve performance and meet business requirements.

Your role will consist of

In this role, the individual will:
•    Lead the Mining OSN to assure, accelerate, amplify and sustain value created in both surface and underground mining operations, globally
•    Directly manage team leads to ensure value creation as per OSN model and the Lead, Mine Control who is responsible to development and implementation of the Mine Control operator skillset governance, framework and associated training programs.
•    Drive and sustain improved operational performance across the global value chain through close collaboration and partnership with sites and other central functions (Mine Support SMEs, Mine Planning, SRD, Digital, Asset Management, etc.), leveraging data driven insights.
•    Maintain a detailed and evolving suite of mining metrics and scorecards/dashboards to measure and provide actionable insights which enable systematic improvements in activities and behaviors to improve performance.
•    Investigate the effectiveness of data-driven initiatives and optimize strategies based on actionable insights.
•    Evaluate and validate the centralized register of initiatives, ensuring they align with the overall mining objectives.
•    Initiate regular performance reviews of the Lead Surface Ops and Lead Underground Ops to ensure productivity and efficiency.
•    Drive the development of skill sets in control room operations as part of workforce capability building.
•    Partner with the Analyst roles to generate benchmarks and metrics that track the performance of mining operations.
•    Lead the succession planning and potential elimination of roles as operational efficiencies are realized.
•    Collaborate with other departmental managers to embed OSN activities with broader company objectives, such as safety and environmental compliance.
 

Your training, skills, and experience checklist Formal education in Mining Engineering or related field, required.Operations experience in both an Open Pit and Underground Mine, required.Statistical Analysis certification, required.Six Sigma, Full Potential, and other continuous improvement methodology knowledge is a mustStrong leadership and influencer skillsets.  Your training, skills, and experience checklist Minimum 10 years’ experience in site-based technical and/or operational roles.Minimum 5 years’ experience in LOW2 operational or technical roles, advanced proficiency in Mine Planning is a must.Advanced proficiency in leading the development of a multi-year strategy in alignment with company strategies, including overseeing integration and optimization of mine control systems.Proven ability to determine tiered metrics, KPIs and value drivers, both on a function or area specific and value-chain basis.Proficiency in leveraging operational experience with technical knowledge to improve business processes and outcomes.Proficiency in Change Management & Communications framework and processes.Proficiency in statistical analysis packages such as Excel, Minitab, Python, R, etc.Displays data analysis tool capability, developing analytical tools in programs such as PI, PowerBI, Power Apps, Grafana, etc.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $175,950 - $246,330 USD. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.  


This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
