Mountainside Medical Center and Pascack Valley have 476 licensed beds combined. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Nursing, Critical Care Unit will be responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term planning of the Critical Care unit including patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians, and multidisciplinary professional staff. Responsibilities Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and developing of employees within the Critical Care unit Act as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical services Organize services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of emergency care Assume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the assigned Critical Care unit Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to the assigned Medical/Surgical unit Ensure staffing coverage meets productivity standards for unit Support and interpret policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the hospital Facilitate engagement plans for the Critical Care staff satisfaction Monitor patient satisfaction scores and implement plans to improve them Complete patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work results Maintain nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and performance managing team members Responsible for investigating patient, physician and team members complaints/concerns, and diligently work to resolve Maintain required competencies for self and all team members within the unit Perform any and all other duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree preferred New Jersey state RN license that is active and in good standing A minimum of 3+ years of management experience within Critical Care services required; Critical Care experience within a hospital similar in size to ours preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent leadership and communication skills with proven track record of building and coaching successful teams Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude Strong ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, Physicians, or others in a professional manner
