YOUR IMPACT:

 

The Director, Office Security & Risk Programs is responsible for developing OpenText’s office security policies, governance and standards along with associated risk management initiatives.

This critical role calls for a highly experienced security management professional to oversee an enterprise-wide program and provide leadership for the organization’s office security risk management efforts. Supported by a team of professionals, the Director, Office Security & Risk Programs will lead standards framework development, oversee vulnerability assessments and audits, manage security operations (GSOC), develop strategies to mitigate risks across OpenText’s global offices, and establish a robust governance promoting a culture of compliance to ensure effectiveness of security programs globally.

 

This position will report to the VP, Workplace Services and will either be based or require travel to our Waterloo, ON office.

 

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:

 

Develop, execute, and manage strategies for the global security functional programs under your responsibility. This includes office security risk management, governance and compliance, project management, metrics and audit, organizational preparedness, regional security and support and enablement, security training and awareness.Maintain oversight of our Corporate Security policies defining program scope, roles, and responsibilities as well as sub-policies, standards & procedures for security programs.Align security standards and strategy with stakeholder needs across business units, promoting a proactive security culture and providing thought leadership. Provide oversight for OpenText’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), ensuring continuous monitoring, rapid response, and incident management. Optimize GSOC technology and processes for real-time alarm monitoring and emergency response.  Review, consult, and sign off on security system designs, upgrades, migrations, and deployments in new facility projects.Oversee office security systems including administration, configuration, troubleshooting and roadmap to drive standardization across the enterpriseOversee security equipment lifecycle management initiatives.Drive innovation by integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance office security capabilities, streamline operations, and improve threat detection and response times.Establish and oversee a vulnerability assessment/ audit program to regularly review security protocols, systems, and incident reports to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.Oversee company-wide security awareness/ emergency response training programs, working with regional facilities security teams and business partners to ensure alignment with broader risk management efforts across global offices and regions, ensuring consistency while accommodating local cultural and regulatory differences.Lead and mentor a high-performing security team, fostering collaboration and innovation while ensuring skill development and succession planning.Establish a risk management program for facilities security, working with stakeholders to implement mitigation plans and ensure regulatory compliance.  Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and report data-driven insights to senior leadership to support decision-making.  Oversight of corporate security relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure cost-effective services and compliance with corporate standards.Lead capital and operational budget planning for corporate security projects, working closely with regional security POCs and Finance to allocate and manage resources effectively.As a member of the crisis response team, assist the business continuity/crisis management team during any emergency/crisis.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

 

Extensive knowledge in security industry areas including office security programs, systems, GSOC operations, governance, risk management, facility security design, and emergency response.Proven ability to set and execute strategic goals while managing tactical operations and driving change initiatives.Strong business acumen, collaborating cross-functionally to implement security programs while adapting to company culture and offering fresh perspectives.Critical thinker with leadership experience and excellent relationship management skills to address global challenges.Ability to effectively communicate at various levels within the organization (including briefing executive management) on security initiatives, projects, decisions, and information.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and leading successful teams.Comprehensive experience in delivering office security design consultation for projects across all global regions.Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to office security, as well as current national and international standards and installation practices.Proven ability to manage security programs against a set budget.Flexibility in work schedule/ability to respond to after-hour or extended events globally.Minimum 5+ years of direct experience in a leadership and people management role.Minimum 15+ years of experience in a private sector corporate security organization or a related public sector organization (focused on office security). Private sector corporate security experience is highly preferred, particularly in a global company and/or the technology industry.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.One or more professional certifications in an area of study relevant to this position is preferred, such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or similar.
