Director of Operations

Overland Park, KS (Onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is currently looking for Director of Operations in Overland Park, Kansas. In this position you will act as the Site Director, having responsibility for managing the Overland Park site. As the Operations Director, you will ensure that operational efficiencies and transformational initiatives are delivered to support enhanced delivery and business growth for the whole of US organization. This role will also support some transverse functions for all organizations within global business unit.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Day to day leadership and management of Overland Park site and facility functions including facility budgets, security, and OSHA compliance.Drives business-planning activities, coordinating workload plans and Sales and Operations planning to provide accurate forecasting in collaboration with heads of other departments.Supports institutionalization of quality management system and retention of quality certifications for both NAS US sites.Implements, sponsors, and promotes continuous improvement activities and transformation plans to increase competitiveness and achieve profitability objectives.Supports the US bids and projects.Supervises Purchasing and Procurement functions including sourcing policy, key supplier performance, inventory management, and parts obsolescence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in engineering, science or a relevant discipline.Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a similar role in a manufacturing organization with direct experience managing Operations or production.Experience working within an organization supporting US Federal Government.Demonstrated experience overseeing the quality function for a manufacturing business.Possesses excellent leadership skills with ability to drive growth, continuous improvement and collaborative working in a global environment.Knowledge of aviation and air traffic management business.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must be a US Person as defined in applicable law.Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Domestic and international travel is required; approximately 30% of the time.
