Director, Payer Revenue Management

The Director, Payer Revenue Management oversees operational teams and leaders within Payer Revenue Management across all City of Hope on-license facilities within multiple states. Manages and provides support to subordinate leaders, relaying organizational and departmental objectives, insuring project timelines and expectations are met.  Monitors and manages department performance goals and progress toward desired results; identifies inefficiencies and recommends necessary improvements to workflows within the department, always taking the upstream and downstream processes into consideration. Shares department performance data at meetings with critical stakeholders including multiple facility CFOs. Takes accountability for department performance and holds other leaders and staff accountable for their actions. Ensures the team abides by departmental policies and procedures as well as understands payer rules and regulations, reimbursement guidelines and contracts across multiple states. Implements processes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflows. Adheres to department budget and maintains awareness of expenses, including salary and other direct expenses. Advocates for change on behalf of the team that promotes growth or innovation; supports findings with data and facts. Represents department at leadership meetings and may serve as a liaison to cross-functional departments in support of related matters including clinical areas across multiple facilities and states. Encourages cross-departmental collaboration to enhance revenue cycle efficiencies. Establishes relationships and maintains contact with existing business partners that support business functions. Stays up to date with payor billing and collection requirements, as well as ensuring that all direct reports maintain high compliance standards with regulatory agencies both Federal and within each state where City of Hope has on-license facilities.

 

As a successful candidate, you will:

Provide leadership and direction in the revenue cycle to meet key metrics for days in A/R, cash collections, A/R aging and net AR performance.Provide direct and extensive oversite on approximately $1B per year in cash collections.Oversee Patient Billing, Collections, Customer Services, Refunds/Credit Balance, and Payment Posting Develop, plan, direct and manage Payer Revenue Management activities through coordinated effort to lead Managers and staff.Implements new technology, and acts as a catalyst for change to meet current and future business needs.Provide subject matter and technical expertise in the design and implementation of EPIC in Revenue Cycle and related applications.Attract, retain and develop quality management and other team members, while providing leadership and role modelOversee the hiring, training and termination of employees.Service quality and work quality to meet required City of Hope, multiple state and federal rules and regulations.Utilizes work quality monitoring to ensure that policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety and environment, and infection control guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

Bachelors; 3 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education.7 years prior Payer Management/Patient Finance experience; 5 years management experienceOngoing education in Healthcare Management Administration, Revenue Cycle.Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) preferred.Accounts Receivable, AR management systems applications Large Health Systems, cancer care preferred.
