Overview Lovelace Health System (LHS) has been committed to meeting the growing healthcare needs of the Albuquerque community since 1912. LHS is comprised of Lovelace Medical Center, Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center, Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital, Lovelace Women’s Hospital, Lovelace Westside Hospital, Lovelace Regional Hospital, New Mexico Heart Institute and Lovelace Medical Group. LHS has 613 licensed beds. POSITION SUMMARY Directs and administers strategic, operational, fiscal and personnel activities for pharmacy department. Maintains all regulatory requirements for the development and implementation of policy procedures and security protocols for pharmacy drugs and supplies. May be responsible for educating healthcare professionals and patients on medication use as well as compounding and dispensing prescribed medications for patient care. Prepares and manages budgets, manages staff and ensures quality services are provided through daily operations. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure competency and patient safety. Responsibilities Responsible for planning, budgeting, coordinating, staffing, scheduling, and supervising the daily operations of the Pharmacy department. Responsible for purchasing supplies and materials for the department. Educates and promotes performance improvement by working closely with other department leaders and Medical Staff. Responsible for maintaining all regulatory requirements for the development and implementation of security protocols May be responsible for educating healthcare professionals and patients on medication use, as well as compounding and dispensing prescribed medications for patient care. Takes ownership of assignments, special projects, pilot programs; other duties as assigned or requested. Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge. Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to “service”. Meets Budget (Operating & Capital) for assigned areas. Mentors, coaches, develop subordinates to accomplish goals. Develops policies, processes, strategiesand goals that support Department/Corporation direction. Qualifications Education & Experience Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy; Pharm D or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with MBA/MS preferred Five (5) years related experience of which three (3) years must have been in a supervisory capacity Required: Current License to practice Pharmacy in state of NM IV Certification must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire. Hospital Based Experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent communication skills. General knowledge of hospital operations, structure and personnel policies. Ability to resolve issues.
