I. JOB SUMMARY:
A Director functions at a high organizational level, providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives to further the mission of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) and its affiliates. Anticipates problems and other needs and seeks solutions to assure the on-going operations of QHS. Is highly skilled in facilitating interactions among organizational departments and functions. Promotes teamwork and collaboration; is results-oriented. A director reports to an executive; is accountable for functions and/or activities at the organization but may also have responsibilities supporting operations at other QHS entities or other affiliated organizations. He/she is accountable for outcomes and results to achieve the annual goals and objectives approved by the Board of Trustees. Makes a significant contribution to patient care quality and service. Functions as an organizational leader. Recognizes and supports the unique heritage and mission established by the founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.
Area(s) of assignment: Provides leadership and direction over physician contract services for The Queen’s Health Systems and its affiliates (collectively, QHS). Directs the development, negotiation and execution of contracts for physicians and hospital services with QHS medical staff organizations in compliance with company contract templates, reimbursement structure standards and other key process controls. Responsible for physician contract strategy development and execution of alignment strategies with physician networks (i.e. Queen’s University Medical Group, Professional Services Agreements, etc.). May be assigned other areas of responsibility.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
• Frequent: sitting.
• Occasional: walking, standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, law, healthcare administration or related field.
• Master’s degree in business administration, finance, law, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Five (5) years management/leadership experience in healthcare contracting and negotiations, preferably in a comparable organization.
• Solid understanding of business principles, i.e., strategic and financial planning, budgeting, business planning, organization theory.
• Proven leadership skills, i.e., planning, communications, motivation, mentoring, interpersonal skills.
• Track record of managing multiple departments/functions, preferably in a comparable health care setting.
• Prior experience in physician compensation, physician recruitment or practice management, preferred.
