The Director of Physician Outpatient Practice, Cardiology plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of all assigned physician outpatient practices including patient scheduling, registration, medical records, financial controls, staffing, facility management and reporting/communication of operational and financial outcomes to staff, physicians and Inova Health System management. Maintains effective and responsive relationships with physicians, patients, their families and other providers. Takes ownership of physician outpatient practice operations including budgeting, productivity management for clinical staff/physicians/non-clinical staff, non-salary expense control, cash control and identification of capital needs for the operation.

Takes ownership of the completeness and accuracy of all front-end Revenue Cycle functions including registration, referral/authorizations, collection at the time of service, etc.
Effectively builds ad-hoc and permanent teams to initiate change and influence future improvements.
Ensures that accurate and complete records of patient visits are maintained and that equipment is safe and in proper working order.
Establishes, monitors, and manages standards for Patient Access to optimize throughput (i.e. telephone, new and established patient appointments, and waiting room wait times).
Promotes improvement through positive interactions with physicians and may conduct/participate in training personnel, students, and other staff.
Demonstrates effective communication skills and discretion in the resolution of conflict among healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Ensures that site-specific policies and procedures are in place to safeguard cash, checks, charges, or other currency.
Oversees Physician Outpatient Practice to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but is not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
Minimum Requirements
3 years of management experience in a physician ambulatory care setting.
2 years of healthcare leadership experience
Bachelor's Degree or seven years of management experience in an ambulatory practice setting. (Meeting mgt. minimum requirement plus additional two years of experience in an ambulatory practice or hospital setting will satisfy the education requirement).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting cardiology providers or practices
Experience working in a matrixed environment supporting multiple facilities
