Director, Procurement

The Director, Procurement is responsible for managing, training and end user support of our procurement activities. This position is charged with implementing purchasing strategies, monitoring supplier performance, negotiating supplier contracts, developing organization structure and enforcing procurement policies. This position provides subject matter expertise to ensure the sourcing and procurement needs of our business are being achieved in a controlled and efficient manner. 

Schedule and Location:

The position has a hybrid work schedule consisting of Tuesday through Thursday in the office. Monday and Friday provide the option to work remotely or from the office. This open role is located at our modern ten-story corporate headquarters in Spring, Texas.

What You Will Do:

Develop effective and productive working relationships with various levels of management to understand their procurement needs and implement targeted strategies to address those needs.  Identify and establish policies related to buying goods and services for ABS and its entities. Oversee implementation of sound procurement systems.   Direct the preparation, development and consolidation of operating budgets.  Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with key suppliers. Create reports and utilize available procurement data to analyze information about sourcing, costs, supplier performance, contract terms, and spend risk indicators.     Supervise the day-to-day procurement and sourcing activities such as competitive bidding, executing cost savings strategies, leading contract negotiations, cultivating supplier partnerships, and monitoring spend analytics.  Manage the ABS global procurement function including hiring, training, and mentoring procurement personnel. Ensure bids comply with established requirements and applicable regulations. Recommend actions for improving control, operating results and reporting systems.  Serve as a point of escalation for issue management and disputes, driving those issues to resolution.  Maintain an account of third party spend by category/type, location and supplier.   Provide the CFO, Executive and Corporate Management with financial/operational information and analysis for making informed decisions and evaluating performance. 

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or certifications.  Minimum of fifteen (15) years of Procurement Program or Strategic Sourcing management experience with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a management position.   Extensive accounting experience in an international service environment with considerable experience in a senior financial management position. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent managerial skills in the areas of team development, organization, negotiation, relationship building, planning and implementation.  Highly developed analytical, supervisory and inter-personal skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level. Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, preferably Oracle.  Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Shall be able to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to various levels of management.  Ability to understand and navigate the supplier contract lifecycle from contract origination to contract completion. Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management system. 

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to the Vice President, Financial Shared Services, or other designated executive. Positions directly reporting to this role will be designated by the Vice President, Financial Shared Services
