Director, Procurement Center of Excellence
The Procurement Center of Excellence (COE) at Aon is a relatively new strategic team that advises, influences, and enables outcomes supporting procurement strategy. It identifies and implements best practices and delivers data/analytical insights for key decisions across the enterprise. As the Director of Aon’s Procurement COE, you will bring curiosity, a data driven approach and procurement expertise to implement best practices for procurement processes, methodologies, and models. You will optimize operations across categories, engage with senior leaders to improve KPIs and efficiencies, and drive value while simplifying execution and improving user experience. This role reports to the Vice President of Global Spend Management. This role is based our of our downtown Chicago office with the flexibility to work remotely 2-3 days a week. What the day will look like Use deep procurement experience and a data driven approach to constantly innovate and to creatively develop methods and ideas to make the procurement process more efficient and effective, driving and implementing continuous process improvement across the Procurement Operating Model Manage and assess Aon’s end-to-end supplier lifecycle process (onboarding, sourcing, contract lifecycle, offboarding) developing an efficient process that balances user experience and protecting the firm from supplier risk Oversee the implementation of Aon’s third-party risk management and supplier relationship management program Develop and provide training and change management for the organization to ensure that they are knowledgeable of expectations and aware of changes as they occur; in some cases, partnering with other functional teams outside of procurement General development of the organization - including taking an active role in the current initiatives within the COE (and across the firm), developing action plans, driving transaction efficiency and internal service metrics Identify trends and opportunities for procurement through industry involvement that continuously drives insights into best practices Skills and experience that will lead to success Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in category management, procurement, or supply chain. Experience within large, multinational, complex organizations preferred. Experience in people leadership, managing direct reports and third-party support resources. Exceptional communication skills, able to effectively articulate complex ideas and concepts through clear and concise verbal, written communication, and/or presentations. Strong project management and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of levers available to create value, and the ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers to maximize opportunities. Delivery/execution-oriented mindset, who can identify opportunities and clearly/concisely translate them into actionable plans Creative thinker, demonstrating problem solving, analytics, troubleshooting and ability to adapt if required. An inquisitive self-starter willing to challenge conventional thinking, take ownership and drive to achieve results. Pay Transparency Laws: The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $150,000 - $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
