Director, Product/Platform Development, Metal & Atomic Layer Deposition Products (MDP/ALD) Service Business Unit (SBU)

This executive leadership role oversees all research, development & engineering aspects of Applied Materials MDP/ALD SBU supporting Applied’s customer install base in the semi-conductor industry. This person will engage cross-functionally to drive product vitality including all new service product development and continuous improvement aspects of the business working to exceed customer and business expectations. MDP is a leadership product for Applied Materials. Provides leadership and direction through managers. Executes segment/functional business plans and contributes to the development of segment/functional strategy.

Responsibilities

Responsible for program management of Research, Development and Engineering aspects of the MDP/ALD SBU including new product development performance Partners with business leadership and the product business to develop service product roadmaps and manage product portfolios/investments Leads development and execution of innovation/technology roadmaps in support of above product roadmaps Leads customer application understanding and development to facilitate new product introduction. Accountable for on-time delivery, cost and quality of new products and technologies to support customer, operating plan and growth commitments of the MDP/ALD SBU. Leads development and execution of project management (PMP), product lifecycle processes (PLC), continuous improvement programs, ECO etc…. Supports quality, productivity and sustaining engineering initiatives partnering with customers and operations Manages technology partners and supports new product related strategic sourcing needs partnering with strategic sourcing/supply chain Leads sampling field quality processes working closely with field commercial resources Builds strong teams and cross-functional engagement across multiple geographies & external partners including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal etc… Communicates RD&E progress /execution to senior executives and stakeholders
 

Desired Skills, Competencies & Experience

Higher Science/Engineering materials related technical degree and with minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience.  Minimum MS, prefer Ph.D.Materials, Deposition, Systems experience and domain expertiseSemiconductor applications and services experience desiredExtensive new product introduction experience with a performance-based track recordStrong program management and product lifecycle management experienceTalent Acquisition, Development and RetentionCustomer focused – VOC domain expertise and strong customer acumenHigh financial acumen and analytical/data/statistics-oriented decision making stylePositive can-do hands on entrepreneurial attitude that builds support for RD&E needsStrong communication skills and interpersonal presence that extends confidence and humilityExperience building and delivering executive level presentations.Ability to effectively manage and deliver to multiple KPIs.Critical thinking and ability to influence and communicate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders (Sales, finance, marketing, strategy, management).Excellent personal time management and project management skills.

U.S. Salary Range:

$210,000.00 - $289,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
