The Role
The Director, Production Health & Safety US and Canada (UCAN), will lead a high-impact team of health and safety professionals supporting Netflix Production throughout the UCAN region across all production verticals, live, and events. This role will be comfortable leading through complexity and uncertainty, driving the alignment of safety goals with changing business needs of Physical Production, Legal, Labor leadership in the UCAN region. You prioritize culture, diversity, and inclusion in your leadership style. You are connected to the work and can balance both the art and the science of leading health & safety for a creative business. You will have a strong desire to ensure that any performance measures for safety are meaningful, context rich, and support required reporting. As part of the Content Risk Management leadership team, you will be exceptional at engagement on risk based topics ideally with creative business leaders and you will have an appetite to work collaboratively with our Regional Production Safety leads to support the wider best-in-class approach to Production Health & Safety. Success means we can effectively minimize harm and disruption, enable smart risk-taking, and meet our regulatory compliance/ethical requirements. Job Responsibilities:
+ Manage a team of production health & safety professionals that support all Production genres and live events in UCAN.
+ Implement a health & safety strategy and culture that fits our business and culture empowering risk ownership and informed decision making.
+ Partner with our Legal, Studio/Production, and Content Risk Management teams to establish the appropriate levels of engagement, support, and resourcing for the full scope of deal structures and risk profiles.
+ Engage with and influence senior leadership and decision makers to consider health and safety as an integral element of management decisions and workforce planning.
+ Review and interpret injury/illness information, learnings, and industry data to ensure our health & safety readiness/compliance and identify trends for program development.
+ Collaborate with the crew safety leads, internal/external production leadership, and regulatory agencies to effectively resolve issues on cases reportable to OSHA or other regulatory bodies.
+ Review investigations of accidents, incidents, significant events, and emergencies are meaningful and completed in accordance with company requirements and applicable laws and regulations.
+ Strengthen our industry positioning and engagement (AMPTP, CSATF, etc.) keeping the company well-informed on industry issues, trends, and resources.
Qualifications:
+ Demonstrated senior leadership experience (15+ years) in safety system/program development, execution, and aligning strategy and business with a multinational company; fluency in creative/entertainment industry, terminology, equipment, and process a plus.
+ Demonstrated ability to simplify complex health and safety requirements and processes to enable them to be easily understood and implemented.
+ Broad experience of driving a risk (as opposed to compliance) based approach to health and safety management.
+ Advanced education is preferred such as a Master's Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Physical Sciences, related major or equivalent experience.
+ Extensive experience managing complex projects across multiple locations.
+ Experience of partnering and engaging with risk owners to fully understand safety considerations within an overall decision-making process.
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Chartered IOSH Membership (CMIOSH) or other related certification a plus.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $360,000 - $850,000. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
