Director, Program Evaluation WFH Flexible • New York, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York+NY+USA+10018) • Analytics & Evaluation Job Type Full-time Description Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) is a community-based, volunteer-supported nonprofit dedicated to leading the fight against AIDS. Our mission focuses on reducing the spread, helping those affected maintain their health and independence, and ensuring that HIV prevention, treatment, and cure remain a priority at all levels. GMHC’s programs actively serve some of the city’s most vulnerable populations, and our advocacy work promotes HIV/AIDS awareness and action locally and nationally. Working under the direction of our CFO, theDirector, Program Evaluationis responsible for working with agency leadership, program managers frontline staff and clients to assist in the design and implementation of evaluation, research, and quality improvement projects across our agency’s program and operational areas. This position requires strong problem solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Essential Job Functions Leadership and Advocacy in Cultural Change: + Act as a "cultural change agent" to promote critical inquiry and data-driven decision-making across the agency. + Introduce and train management, staff, and clients in various quality, evaluation and research methodologies. + Design and provide daily management of quality, evaluation, and research projects. + Build internal infrastructure and capacity for quality, evaluation, and research. Collaboration and Process Improvement: + Partner with managers to enhance program processes and outcomes, ensuring alignment with both evaluation best practices and organizational goals. + Analyze program data to identify trends and areas for improvement, promoting the practical use of results for improvement and to demonstrate program efficacy. Reporting and Communication: + Create and manage the development of reports, storyboards, grant proposals, abstracts, professional presentations, and publications. + Attend internal and external meetings as required, representing GMHC and its program evaluation efforts. Additional Responsibilities: + Undertake other tasks and special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the organization's mission and evolving needs. Special Skills and Knowledge Research and Analysis Expertise: + Background in both formative and summative research. + Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods. + Understanding of psychometrics and experience with scale development. + Knowledge of advanced statistics and proficiency with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, or Stata. + Skill in development of professional presentations and journal publication. Technical Proficiency in Data Visualization: + Ability to utilize data visualization software, such as Tableau, to effectively present and communicate data insights. Communication and Precision: + Strong teaching, training, and coaching skills. + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. + Excellent project management skills. + Excellent organizational skills. + Attention to detail and the capacity to complete assignments within tight deadlines. Interpersonal and Management Skills: + Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. + Ability to supervise staff, teach skills and provide professional development opportunities. Requirements Education and Certification + Advanced degree in psychology, sociology, public health or the equivalent required. + A minimum of three years’ experience managing quality, evaluation and/or research projects. + Experience with quality improvement (e.g., PDSA, Six Sigma, Lean) a plus. Technical Skills Advanced Microsoft Office Proficiency: + Excel: Expertise in advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting, and financial modeling for complex data analysis and decision-making support. + Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint: Proficient in using these tools for professional communication, documentation, and presentation creation. Data Visualization and Reporting Tools: + Dashboard Software: Proficient in using leading data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI for developing dynamic, insightful reports and dashboards. + Automated Reporting Tools: Experience with Salesforce and other similar platforms, a plus. Data Manipulation and Analysis: + Excel Skills: Advanced capability in data manipulation and visualization within Excel to derive insights from data. + Statistical Software: Competence in using advanced statistical tools such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, and Python for sophisticated data analysis and modeling tasks. + Database and Query Skills: Proficient in SQL for managing, querying, and manipulating large datasets from relational databases, a plus. General Technical Proficiency: + Online Navigation Skills: Ability to efficiently navigate online portals and databases to retrieve and manage information relevant to program evaluation. Work Environment & Schedule This is a hybrid position requiring a mix of: + In-office duties (team meetings and reporting). + Remote work as determined by the supervisor based on project needs. + Participation in the annual AIDS Walk New York event (mandatory for all GMHC staff). Physical Demands While carrying out the responsibilities of this role: + Employee is routinely required to sit, engage in conversation, actively listen, and take notes. with occasional need to move around the office. + High focus and mental concentration are required to analyze data, solve complex problems, and develop effective solutions within tight deadlines.
