Director, R&D Oncology Communications

**General Description:**
The Director of R&D Oncology Communications is responsible for shaping and developing communications strategies for early-stage pipeline assets and BeiGene’s unique R&D organization.
This role will report to the Executive Director, Product and Pipeline Communications. It will be based in the US with the expectation of domestic and international travel to congresses and key events.
**Essential Functions of the job:**
+ Partner with the ED, Product & Pipeline Communications to define pipeline/R&D communication strategies that support business objectives and convey the unique value of BeiGene, its platforms, and programs.
+ Drive the R&D communications strategy with a special focus on how communications can deliver value with clear and specific tactics.
+ Draft an annual communications plan for the pipeline/R&D with defined objectives, impactful strategies, and actionable tactical programming, including budgeting.
+ Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Corporate Affairs leadership regarding complex problems, current and future initiatives, strategies, and budget allocation.
+ Directly lead and manage pipeline/R&D communications, including creating and executing external programming, maintaining in-depth knowledge of our pipeline assets, clinical and development activities, and emerging therapeutic platforms, including business goals, strategies, and market challenges.
+ Synthesize and summarize complex scientific concepts and programs into “bite-sized” messages understandable by nonscientific audiences.
+ Collaborate closely with product communications colleagues to grow awareness and understanding of BeiGene’s scientific expertise and ongoing clinical programs to expand into new indications.
+ Enhance BeiGene’s reputation as a trusted partner in the oncology community, working closely with the Clinical, Development, Portfolio, Medical and Patient Advocacy teams.
+ Develop communications materials, including press releases, Q&As, social media content, website content, executive talking points, fact sheets, internal articles, etc.
+ Develop multi-channel strategies to share stories of BeiGene's impact and potential to help people living with cancer.
+ Work closely with Global and US cross-functional partners, including commercial, medical affairs, legal, regulatory, and strategy leads to ensure alignment.
+ Ensure Corporate Affairs leadership is well-informed of developments, plans and strategies for the franchise.
+ Actively monitor the competitive landscape, ensure response readiness, and adapt communications strategies accordingly.
+ Oversee day-to-day management of external agencies, including budget oversight.

**Qualifications: **
+ 10+ years of healthcare communications experience, including roles in PR agencies and in-house communications teams. Oncology communications experience preferred.
+ Deep experience in pharmaceutical communications, including R&D communications.
+ Well-versed in FDA, EMA and global regulatory guardrails.
+ Proficiency in Veeva is advantageous.
