The Director of Raw Materials will have responsibility for the Pittsburgh Paints Company’s procurement strategy, processes, people and results as it relates to Raw Material purchasing. You will improve PPC’s supplier base with an annual spend of more than $500MM purchased in raw materials spanning many categories and suppliers across the US and Canada.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the Director of Raw Materials will sit on the Procurement leadership team and will ensure the development and understanding of a procurement strategies satisfying organizational goals while also providing:
A balance between cost, service and riskA balance between the short- and long-term when developing strategic sourcing category strategiesA continuous improvement mindset with close ties to future technologies, trends, and expertisePeople-centric leadership that cultivates a diverse group of procurement professionalsThis is a hybrid position based in Cranberry Township, PA.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of category managers to:Develop and implement strategic sourcing for commodity categories to guarantee a competitive advantage for PPCDevelop market intelligence and knowledge of the business environment globally to detect risks and opportunitiesAnticipate material trends to help elaborate raw material indices per category.Develop price forecast and cost savings forecast per categoryMeet the cost savings targets established as a result of the strategy implementationIdentify potential new suppliers and lead alternative suppliers/product approvals plans with technical teams globally. Support PPC technology progress by identifying new technologies and products in the market.Develop collaboration with suppliers, to obtain unique price, service and terms for PPCEnsure compliance with PPC Procurement policiesEnsure collaboration to develop category strategies with important partnersSupport PPC’s Innovation and Sustainability needsAchieve process efficiencyQualifications
10+ Years of progressive experience within a procurement function with relevant industry experienceAn undergraduate degree in engineering, supply chain or related field is required. Experience in driving cost savings and efficiency improvements.Experience in complex negotiationsKnowledge and ability to assess the chemical(s) market#LI-Hybrid
