The Department of Human Genetics is currently seeking a full time Director, Research Laboratory to work in Miami. The Director, Research Laboratory ensures the effective technical and administrative management of laboratory functions to meet the institution’s goals of patient care, education, and research. Further, the incumbent provides leadership and mentorship to scientific operations staff and guarantees compliance with rules and regulations.

Department Specific Functions

In Charge of overseeing research projects in Dr. Reinberg’s lab by guiding, advising, and proposing experiments. Will be acting as the scientific advisor in Dr. Reinberg's absence. 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                                                                  

Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for institution’s laboratory services.

Monitors and directs all accreditation, regulatory, and licensure requirements.

Writes and updates procedures and manuals and reviews them annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests and procedures.

Works closely with hospital staff, department management, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service.

Collaborates with upper management to identify areas of opportunity and implements plans of action.

Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.

 Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                                

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Knowledge of business and management principles.

Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
