Position Summary:

Reports to the President, LiftUp Labs, LLC. Leads and owns research, academic study, design, and implementation, data analysis, and insight generation related to current and future products developed by LiftUp Labs.  

Essential Functions:

Conduct and summarize cross-disciplinary academic research (summarizing existing literature, meta-analysis etc.) on various topics at the direction of LiftUp Labs and MTC Leadership. Lead the design and implementation of high-quality, ethically considerate academic studies (e.g. randomized control trials) of LiftUp Labs programs, services, and initiatives with vulnerable populations. For such studies, act as the primary owner of survey design, data collection methods, integrity of data collection, analysis, and summarization of findings.  In conjunction with LiftUp Lab technologists, develop processes and documentation that leads to a high fidelity, repeatable, scalable data and analytic pipelines and products for the organization. Make use of advanced statistical analysis packages and lend expertise to the development of machine-learning/deep-learning quantitative tools with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets. Generate quantitative and qualitative observations and insights related to the data that is collected (both internally to LiftUp Labs and externally to MTC or other stakeholders), summarizing into traditionally acceptable formats for publication in leading academic journals. Package study methodologies, datasets, and outcomes for open-sourcing that allows others to independently verify findings and, as desired, repeat the study independently. Provide abstracts and summaries of such observations and insights for consumption in general audience or executive leadership publications, and act as an agent of record for such summaries with media outlets, as requested. Offer, as qualified, insights and guidance from economics (particularly behavioral economics) in the development of repeatable incentive programs for users of LiftUp Labs programs and services. Leverage data-driven insights to ensure ongoing product optimization and innovation. Dedicate up to 10% of time to performing duties related to the Director, Design position, ensuring a collaborative approach to product development. Dedicate up to 10% of time to performing duties for the direct benefit of Management & Training Corporation at MTC’s direction. Maintain accountability of property; adhere to safety practices. Education and Experience Requirements:

Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in economics, data science, statistics, or a related field.  Five or more years of experience in an academic or industry research position.  Experience in designing and leading research initiatives and writing for academic publication.  Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and application of machine learning/deep-learning computation capabilities to various datasets. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to evolving business needs.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Unless waived by management, a valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.
