The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Director, Research Support to work at UHealth Medical Campus in Miami, FL 33136.
The Director, Research Support oversees research and grant activities within the department with the goals of maintaining financial solvency and academic growth. Moreover, an employee in this position serves as a mentor to department management and staff on issues of research funding.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops reports summarizing research activity within the department on a regular basis. Maintains current knowledge of institutional and external policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Serves as liaison to federal agencies and other funding sources. Creates reports detailing grant spending and ensures that investigators are appropriately using funding. Oversees research initiatives and database personnel. Monitors projects to ensure positive project evaluations, future sustainability, and benefits. Reviews monthly institutional reports of research accounts and works with investigators to resolve discrepancies. Screens department budget, assists in the assignment of expenditures, and identifies areas of opportunity for cost-saving. Participates in various University research councils, committees, and research organizations. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

SCCC – Office of Belonging and Inclusive Excellence
Job Responsibilities:
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) including the supervision of 2 staff members. Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in DEI programs.
• Responsible for ensuring that all DEI programs and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
• Provides reports on Cancer Center’s trainees, faculty, and staff for NIH, external advisory boards
• Maintains current knowledge of institutional and external policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Monitors projects to ensure positive project evaluations, future sustainability, and benefits.
• Develops ODEI’s budget, assists in the assignment of expenditures, and identifies areas of opportunity for cost-saving.
• Participates in various University research councils, committees, and research organizations.
• Ensures employees are trained on DEI programs and on university policy and procedures.
• Manages travel awards for Cancer Center trainees and faculty.
• Advises and assists in planning, directing, and reporting the activities of the programs administered by ODEI.
• Serves as part of a Cancer Center’s senior administrative cabinet and the administrative contact for Cancer Center’s Cancer DEI Council.
• Assists the Associate Director for DEI in formulating and implementing policies and procedures for DEI programming.
• Assists with maintaining the DEI webpages.
• Work collaboratively with Office of Education and Training, Office of Outreach and Engagement.
• Prepares presentations on the progress and programming of DEI as needed.
• Oversees the development and updating of internal standard operating procedures.
• Develop and support relationships with community partners, and academic institutions.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
