The AS Business Consulting & Education (BCE) team creates and delivers industry-leading consulting, benchmarking, thought leadership, and education programs that help advisors achieve their goals and gain competitive advantage.

 

As a key contributor of the Schwab Advisor Services BCE organization, the qualified candidate will lead the team that conducts Schwab’s annual RIA Benchmarking study – the industry leading quantitative financial research for RIAs that custody with Schwab.  Additional information about the study: Schwab's RIA Benchmarking Study

 

This individual will lead the management of this very visible program which includes collection, review, handling, and analysis of large amounts of data. The Benchmarking team develops requirements, executes the study, and ensures the quality of the study web application, of the data that is collected, and of the results that are delivered to clients, internal stakeholders, and the media.

 

This Director role is responsible for setting the long-term program strategy and delivering a world-class experience for advisors participating in the RIA Benchmarking Study. To achieve this, the candidate will oversee the team of highly skilled analytical staff executing this program, with an emphasis on fostering engagement.

 

You will also be responsible for developing relationships with key internal partners; overseeing the vendor relationship; enhancing processes and procedures; developing insights and analysis to share with the industry and support BCE’s thought leadership; and creating thought leadership content. This individual–and the team they lead–will collaborate with a broad set of internal partners and leaders including Marketing, PR, Field Enablement, Data Analytics and Insights, Sales, Consultants, AS Leadership and others. This project is highly dependent on cross-functional partnerships, so the ability to inspire and influence colleagues, in addition to Benchmarking team members, is critical.

What you have

 

Required:

10+ years of relevant experience, with 3 years within financial servicesProgram and project management leadership experience, with strong execution experience supporting complex projects, industry benchmarking experience preferredAbility to think critically and set strategic direction, including ability to identify initiatives and execute programs to meet strategic objectivesA track record of developing strong relationships with colleagues and business leaders through relevance, trust, influence, and deliveryExperience overseeing a high-visibility, technical program for end-clientsExperience managing a significant relationship with a third-party vendor and executing all contract negotiations3+ years of leading teams, with direct people leadership experience (team members report directly to you, you are responsible for performance appraisals, hiring etc.)Data analysis and reporting experience–solid understanding and ability to identify trends and oversee statistical and correlation analysis; ability to support the team in analyzing large amounts of data, combining multiple data cuts to identify key findings, and validating accuracy.Ability to develop meaningful and impactful insights based on the data to help support Advisor Services’ industry-leading position in the marketplace, incorporating strategic initiatives identified by AS leadership and industry trendsExcellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills a mustExperience creating key collateral based on the Benchmarking insights including white papers, in-person presentations, webcast content as well as presentations for the media, consultants, and salesExecutive presence to engage with Advisor Services leadership to share key insights and prepare them for presentations, media interviews, and webcastsStrategic approach to PR and media presence based on the study results as well as rapid response to media inquiries, ensuring responses support AS and BCE point of viewHigh attention to detail and experience with rigorous quality control approaches with a focus on accuracy, and an eye for continuous improvement, with the goal of delivering error-free results and insightsAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and strong knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF required

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience highly desirable

 

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
