Baptist Health is looking for a Director, Risk Management to join our team in Elizabethtown, KY

The Director of Patient Safety for the Healthcare Facility will maintain effective organization in all aspects of the Patient Safety-Risk Management Program for the healthcare facility. Specific activities include the coordination and direct clinical support for the patient safety and the risk management program, staff education, management of claims, and the investigation of safety events as defined in BHS Legal and Risk Management policies, maintaining appropriate records as needed to document investigation and claims and the ongoing risk management files. The Director of Patient Safety will provide support to employees as needed during the review and investigation of safety events as well as depositions and interviews with outside counsel. The Director of Patient Safety will maintain the safety event-reporting program for the facility, including timely reviews of all reported events and identifying actual and potential patient harm events and events that may also arise to claim or litigation status. The Director of Patient Safety facilitates and participates in pro-active risk assessments based on relevant literature and sentinel event alerts. The Director of Patient Safety will work with the Regional Director of Patient Safety Officer and Risk Management to provide oversight; recommends preventative and/or remedial solutions that will improve safety, reduce hazards, prevent loss, transfer risks, and minimize the chance of harm to patients, visitors, staff, and the organization. The Director of Patient Safety will notify the Regional Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management, Assistant Vice President for Risk Management and Insurance Services, Healthcare Facility President and senior management as quickly as possible of serious incidents as they occur. BHS litigation counsel as directed and as requested to obtain additional information, provide records, set up appointments, etc.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

Education: 5 years of experience in healthcare risk management required; bachelor’s degree in nursing or clinically related Healthcare Field relevant to the scope of the role required.

Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Risk Management preferred.
