Director, Secondary Markets and Management Reporting

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Capital Markets:

Act as the internal authority on mortgage capital and secondary markets, providing guidance to teams on product development, marketing strategies, and client engagement. Oversee pricing, lock desk, and post-closing functions, ensuring the preparation of necessary investor documentation. Ensure the timely and efficient execution of capital markets strategies to align with goals set by executive management. Collaborate with management to confirm that new products align with investor appetites for credit, operations, reputation, and interest rate risk. Manage pipeline interest rate risk through a TBA MBS hedging program. Analyze market conditions and develop loan sale strategies to optimize profitability. Monitor bond market trends daily, staying informed on economic news, indicators, and advancements in mortgage banking. Develop and oversee a valuation program for Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR). Recommend and implement appropriate MSR hedging strategies. Create policies and procedures governing all Capital Markets and MSR functions to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. Conduct market surveys to ensure competitive pricing of portfolio products. Lead the design and launch of innovative mortgage products for both portfolio and secondary market loans, addressing balance sheet strategies, market dynamics, and customer needs. Present risk assessments of various capital market initiatives to management.

 

Post-Closing:

Responsible for the management of the post-closing staff. Ensures loans are booked, shipped, purchased, and insured in a timely and efficient manner. Identifies loan defects and coordinates with appropriate department heads to ensure loan salability on the secondary market.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CAPABILITIES & SKILLS

Experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and other private investors Experience with FHA, VA, and USDA investor reporting In-depth understanding of mortgage lending processes, including origination, pricing, and secondary markets Familiarity with mortgage-related regulatory and compliance standards and credit policy Proven experience in managing multiple investor relationships, including both servicing-released and servicing retained investors. Excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical, planning, and scheduling skills. Strong leadership and negotiation skills. Extensive industry/business knowledge. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills. Strategic thinker with strong technical skills. Understanding of conforming pricing and the whole loan sale process. Understanding of the Mortgage P&L and how to value mortgage assets. Ability to move quickly, while operating with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS degree required Minimum of 7 years of experience Must be proficient in Excel Nice to have experience Access and SQL Nice to have experience with Optimal Blue
