Job Overview

The Director, Marketplace Seller Success leads a team of senior managers to build and execute seller strategies that drive curated assortment and category revenue growth while delivering a best-in-class customer experience. This role establishes the processes, structure, forecasts, and strategies for growing Macy’s Marketplace. The Director collaborates extensively across the enterprise to implement effective processes and strategies that foster growth for Macy’s Marketplace.

 

What You Will Do

Work cross-functionally with partners across Macy’s Marketplace, including Merchandising, Digital, Finance, and Technology, to define, build, and implement strategies that drive revenue growth. Identify, develop, and execute plans for third-party sellers and categories to meet and exceed curated assortment revenue and performance goals. Create and implement seller compliance programs to ensure that seller performance meets or exceeds expectations, delivering a best-in-class customer experience. Forecast and nurture growth for all existing partner businesses within the marketplace. Develop annual and long-range financial plans, while being accountable for monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts and performance goals. Build a deep understanding of the digital marketplace landscape and the value propositions for brands and sellers, ensuring Macy’s Marketplace remains competitive. Oversee the development of OKRs and business KPIs, driving action-oriented outcomes to achieve business goals. Gather and respond to seller feedback, challenges, and needs by fostering cross-functional collaboration (e.g., site merchandising, product, seller success, operations, and support) to continuously enhance the appeal of Macy’s Marketplace through improvements in processes, reporting, analytics, training, and technology. Lead and inspire a team of U.S.-based and offshore Seller Success leaders, setting clear direction and accountability for growth and performance plans that drive revenue and foster strong seller value and loyalty. Champion best-in-class relationship development with sellers and other industry partners.

 

Skills You Will Need

Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team of senior managers and Seller Success leaders, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong skills in working collaboratively across various departments such as Merchandising, Digital, Finance, and Technology to drive revenue growth.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies that meet revenue and performance goals for third-party sellers and categories.

Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with a strong sense of urgency to grow and manage emerging business initiatives effectively.

Customer-Centric Mindset: Commitment to delivering a best-in-class customer experience by understanding seller feedback and continuously enhancing marketplace appeal.

Financial Acumen: Proficiency in forecasting and developing annual and long-range financial plans, along with accountability for monthly, quarterly, and annual performance metrics.

Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams and the seller community.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and solutions clearly to all levels of the organization.

Creative and Strategic Problem-Solving: Ability to think creatively and strategically while juggling multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, and communicating timelines effectively.

Relationship Building: Expertise in developing and nurturing relationships with sellers and industry partners to drive mutual success.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 7+ years or relevant experience leading and managing Marketplace teams.  Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision. Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
