Job Overview

Macy’s is looking for an expert in Paid Search Marketing (SEM) to lead and manage our keyword and shopping portfolios. This person will be responsible for delivering qualified paid search traffic and driving sales. The position will report to the VP of Communications and Media and includes responsibility for leading the in-house SEM team, external media agencies, search engine account leads and cross-functional partners. The role requires strong technical, strategic, planning, operational, analytical, communication and leadership skills

 

What You Will Do

• Senior point of contact for paid search media 

• Define omni-channel paid search strategy, operational roadmap and resources required for delivery 

• Lead development and implementation of annual, seasonal, and quarterly media plans – inclusive of measurement, reporting and optimization recommendations 

• Lead the cross-functional team, inclusive of direct reports, media agencies and search engines 

• Collaborate with stakeholder base and build highly productive cross-functional partnerships within the retail and digital businesses

• Provide thought leadership, including, but not limited to, industry news, trends, best practices, and competitive insights 

• Deliver growth in key metrics, including, but not limited to site & store traffic, conversion & sales

 

Skills You Will Need

Paid Search Expertise:  Extensive experience managing and directing the entire paid search value chain—including strategy development, joint business planning, project road mapping, media planning, test planning, media activation, media measurement, reporting, optimization, and innovation. Experience must be broad and deep in both text and shopping ads including hands-on experience with search management platforms such as Search Ads 360, Skai (formerly Kenshoo) and shopping feed management tools like Productsup. This person should also have expertise with both automated and manual bidding solutions.

Retail Industry Knowledge: Passion for and knowledge of the retail industry and will have backgrounds in large-scale, omni-channel retail, with proven ability to persistently increase click share, traffic, conversion & sales. Will have a baseline understanding of ecommerce: site operations, taxonomies, team structures, workflows, marketplaces, media networks, etc. 

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and database skills, coupled with visual presentation capabilities. Experienced in delivering value across the full customer journey (awareness, consideration, and demand) while optimizing various KPIs, and proficient with different attribution methodologies (e.g., last click and multi-touch) and measurement systems (e.g., Adobe, Google Analytics, Neustar).

Organization and Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail. Ability to develop and maintain efficient systems of organization.

Project Management: Proficient in project and process management, capable of effectively managing workload, priorities, and timelines, with a background in large-scale, omni-channel retail and a proven ability to increase click share, traffic, conversion, and sales.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to think analytically and pragmatically, and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams and executives.

Initiative and Problem-Solving: Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration and teamwork. Considered a true team player.

Innovative Thinking: Willingness to innovate within data platforms and continuously seek out new data sources to enhance insights.

Relationship Building: Will be highly-skilled at coordinating and directing action across a wide stakeholder base, consisting of internal and external partners – e.g., in-house team, cross-functional disciplines, media agencies, search engines and technology service providers.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior to mid-level colleagues, guiding their priorities and tasks effectively. Will need to acquire and retain high-performing talent

7+ years of relevant SEM experience; SEO experience would be a valuable addition.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in engineering/mathematics or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply; MBA is strongly preferred. 

Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.

Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
