What this position entails

IntelliScript’s Information Technology has been a key part of our success and is critical to our future. In the Director, Software Engineering role, you will be responsible for managing the ongoing development and enhancement of IntelliScript’s industry-leading software. This key leader is responsible for the overall success of our engineering initiatives for our core products. In this position, you will play a pivotal role shaping the engineering direction of the organization, with end-to-end ownership of product engineering. This position requires strong collaboration and partnerships with product, operations, sales, marketing, and design teams. This leadership position is an essential role in our organization, and we are seeking a visionary leader to guide our next phase of growth.

What you will be doing

Lead end-to-end delivery of IntelliScript’s customer and internal facing software platforms, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement Ensure teams deliver secure, high-quality software that balance urgency with the high standards expected by customers and the organization Provide thought leadership in software engineering, architecture and security, driving technical strategy aligned with business goals Cultivate technical ownership to deliver reliable products and services at scale Define and communicate software engineering strategies, team goals, and continuous improvement practices Drive modernization through cloud native microservice architecture, CI/CD, and full automation to improve engineering efficiency Simplify and integrate platforms across multiple release trains Hire, develop, and retain strong software leaders, fostering team growth and career development Implement career progression strategies and optimize team structure for efficiency and growth Analyze and act on software development metrics to improve team efficiency and growth Collaborate with leadership to ensure successful cross-functional initiatives Manage and track the department budget

What we need

15+ years of relevant experience 10+ years of experience effectively leading software engineering teams Strong expertise in software engineering, quality assurance, architecture and security best practices Ability to balance business goals with engineering quality, leveraging data-driven decision making Extensive experience managing large technology budgets and working with service providers Proven track record of migrating legacy products from on-premises to public cloud (AWS/Azure) Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners Deep understanding of Agile/Scrum, Kanban, and DevOps methodologies Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) Ability to drive and inspire organizational change Self-starter with strong teamwork skills and effective communication at all organizational levels Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

 Location

The expected application deadline for this job is March 14, 2025. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

The salary range is $137,000 to $311,000, depending on relevant factors, including but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If relevant experience is less than 20 years the range would be $137,000 to $278,000; for experience of greater than 20 years, the range would be $153,000 to $311,000. In addition, we offer a performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, and generous benefits.
