The Director of Strategy for Oncology and Specialty will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic direction of our oncology and specialty business. In this challenging and highly visible role, this individual will support strategic decision making by leading projects related to market analysis, emerging industry trends, portfolio analysis, and identification of strategic needs as it relates to the pursuit of new business endeavors. This leader will work with cross-functional teams, including Oncology & Specialty business leaders, Corporate Strategy teams, and Finance to ensure comprehensive evaluation of opportunities and alignment with Oncology & Specialty’s strategic objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy development: Lead the development and implementation of strategic projects that align with the company's long-term goals and objectives in the oncology and specialty.Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify growth opportunities, assess competitive positioning, and understand industry trends specific to oncology and specialty.Business Development: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives within the oncology and specialty sectors.Project Management: Manage strategic projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with corporate objectives.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including senior leadership, business units, and external partners.Financial Modeling: Develop and utilize financial models to evaluate the economic impact of strategic initiatives and support decision-making processes.Thought Leadership: Act as a thought leader in strategic discussions, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare management, or a related field.MBA / Advanced degree preferred.

Critical Skills

7+ years of strategy or consulting experience, or relevant healthcare industry experience (e.g., finance, corporate strategy, business development).Healthcare industry experience required; oncology experience preferred.

Strategic Thinking: evaluating industry trends, developing long-term implications, and recommending pragmatic strategies for new business opportunities.Analytical Rigor: ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations.Financial Acumen: understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning and budgeting in the context of strategic planning.Communications skills: ability to develop rapport and credibility across the businesses, promote ideas and proposals persuasively.Comfort with ambiguity, ability to build relationships with cross-functional leaderships, and the ability to influence without authority.Proficient in fostering collaboration with leaders across businesses and work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$119,500 - $199,100
