Director, Strategy and Business Development, BD Advanced Patient Monitoring

The Director, Strategy and Business Development is a key role for our Advanced Patient Monitoring organization. We are looking for a hands-on candidate who will play a key role with high visibility strategic initiatives including the annual multi-year strategic planning process, in-depth business reviews, internal and external opportunity assessments and supporting M&A related activities.

Becton Dickinson (BD) recently completed the acquisition of the Edwards Critical Care business.  This position is part of the Critical Care division, and as such will become a part of the BD organization in the future.  Critical Care will operate as a separate business unit, called Advanced Patient Monitoring (APM) within BD's medical segment, aligning with BD's smart connected care approach.   BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world and is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. How you will make an impact:

Play an instrumental role in the annual strategic planning process for Advanced Patient MonitoringIdentify and execute strategic projects, similar to management consulting engagements, of key strategic business issuesIntegrate findings from research and other analyses into the annual planning process, which establishes the business imperatives for the organizationWork directly with leadership and global colleagues to develop strategic and tactical business plans cross-functionally and cross-divisionally that drive business growthDevelop presentations to facilitate communication of Advanced Patient Monitoring results, strategic initiatives and plans to internal and external audiences

The candidate will also actively engage in identifying and evaluating technologies, markets, and companies for business development opportunities globally for the Advanced Patient Monitoring business.

Devise appropriate research methodologies to support analysis of technology and companiesAssess new business opportunities with a strategic mindset across numerous areas, including technical, clinical, regulatory, legal, IP, market, and financial analysis to support recommendations to senior managementManage due diligence and screening processes, project plans/updates, deliverables, tracking dashboards, and internal review meetingsDevelop market/valuation models and business plans to define the benefits, value and risks for potential transactions, as well as integration and commercialization strategiesCreate impactful presentations to support internal analysis of opportunities and support subsequent recommendations and opportunity pitches to executive leadership (i.e CEO, CFO, CSO)

What you’ll need (required):

Bachelor's Degree Required (preferably in a quantitative field)Master's Degree or other advanced degree (i.e. PhD, MD, JD, etc) PreferredA minimum of 8 years of experience preferred with at least 3 years of direct experience in a business development, strategy, investment banking, finance or management consulting role.

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $166,000 to $235,000 (highly experienced).
