Director, Tax

Clarivate is seeking to hire an experienced Director, Tax to join our global finance team! This role will be responsible for leading the U.S. federal and state income tax compliance and tax controversy. The role will also assist with the completion of the U.S. federal and state tax provision. The position will report to Senior Director, Tax (Global Reporting & Compliance) and will work closely with the U.S. income tax provision and transfer pricing teams.

What will you be doing in this role?...

Lead the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and U.S. international tax returns/forms, in-house and/or co-sourced with assistance from third party providers Lead the preparation and review of quarterly estimated income tax payments and extensions for federal and state income taxesLead the preparation and review of income tax return workpapers and supporting documentationLead the development of an in-house tax compliance process, and create efficiencies through automationAssistance with the calculation of the Company’s annual and quarterly global effective tax rate, cash tax forecast, deferred taxes and taxes payable in accordance with ASC 740Participation and support of merger and acquisition activity to ensure efficient integration into U.S. income tax compliance and reporting processes, as necessaryLead the U.S. tax controversy process by ensuring accurate and timely responses are provided to the IRS and other tax authorities to effectively manage audits, including IDR’s and NOPA’sAssist in documenting tax positions and measuring uncertain tax positions in accordance with ASC 740Perform tax research/analysis and complete necessary documentation to support tax positions upon auditAssist in the preparation of various tax credit claims, such as the R&D tax credit, foreign tax credits, and employment incentives

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments…

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting10+ years’ relevant tax experience in public accounting or industrySignificant experience in U.S. federal corporate income tax complianceCompliance software experience (i.e. OneSource, Corptax, etc.)Experience in accounting for income taxes under ASC 740Solid Word, Excel, PowerPoint, spreadsheet and computer knowledge

It would be great if you also had…

CPA and/or MST preferredBig 4 experience a plusU.S. international tax compliance a plusExperience developing in-house compliance process a plus

About the Team

The Global Tax Team is comprised of over 40 tax professionals worldwide. As a member of the US Income Tax Team, you will collaborate with approximately 10-15 colleagues to fulfill the company’s tax reporting and compliance requirements. This role provides the opportunity to work with tax leadership and other departments within Clarivate, contributing to strategic initiatives and ensuring compliance with US tax regulations.

Hours of Work

Full Time, EST time zoneThis is a hybrid role working 2-3 days a week in our Ann Arbor office location
